Dundalk wouldn't have had access to the European money at the start of the season as prizemoney is only paid out when the competition is finished, and I'd totally agree with Yossarian, get the infrastructure and facilities sorted for the long term first, then look after the rest, winning a league or two is no use if your team goes out of business a few years down the line, and I think we've had plenty of experience of that in recent times

40k??!!! And that's not reckless??
I agree on not going mad on transfer money etc but Dundalk had access to the money from the moment they qualified for the group stages.
The fact that it was not coming until the following year is irrelevant, there are loads of companies / banks that would advance money against a known asset such as a debt to a blue chip company (UEFA). That's really just a technical point , I think they are right not to waste money (Connolly hasn't looked like a 100k man this year), stadium and training facilities first
I didn't say I would have paid that, point remains he is not worth 'more than 40k' I would have done business on maybe 25-30 as long as he signed a 2 year deal, but that's history now.
Rumours tonight that Hoban has been talking to Dundalk but his wage demands are too high.

Caulfield said tonight we are "almost there" with a striker...
Pity if he is talking himself out of a deal. He'd have CL football, be playing at a club where the fans love him, players and manager he knows, chance of winning a couple of medals in the cups, rebuild confidence and a reputation and who knows next season as no doubt SK will leave no rock unturned not to have Dundalk toe to toe with Cork. Clubs need to be frugle but at times when there is some wriggle room and a signing fits go with it. Performance related pay on a 2 year contract and earn the premium type wage. Sounds like an agent is seeing the $$ signs after the EL stint.
We heard similar about Hoban last week, turned down a deal with us. No idea if we have gone back with a better offer.
40k for Connolly is hilarious, as is 20k and 10k... and 2k. Hes ****e.
Seems Hoban playing a Dutch auction then and going for the highest bidder, interesting to see how this pans out. I can't see him going back to England so he is obviously going through his best options in Ireland.

Mikey Drennan supposedly being looked at by Cork - any Cork fans able to confirm ?
Would be a good signing . Before his personal problems got on top of him he was playing some great football at rovers.
Who????
Dave Mooney surely?

Roy O'Donovan was there last night, he only joined Newcastle jets recently though
Sean St Ledger to Cork??

Hoban a done deal to us according to word around the town.
Sadlier coming here and Mountany the other way also talk around Dundalk
In the Star yesterday that Garvan has signed for Pats. I hear he's looking for 'crazy money' so I have my doubts if he will sign for us
Here on a technicality.
