    Beckham

Does anyone else think the LA Galaxy are treating David Beckham so unfairly? I mean the guy has revolutionised soccer in the U.S.A(just like he said he would) and now they won't let him move to Milan. Its not as if they spent millions on promoting him and how would Poor David know that playing in a lower league like the MSL would lessen dent his chances to play with England.

Has he? Read an article in When Saturday Comes recently which said that the head of MLS, who was linked with a takeover at Arsenal, was coming under pressure because of the Beckham signing, and that they'd twisted rules to let him sign, and he hadn't lived up to expectations at all. Galaxy finished bottom of their league and the team were cancelling matches to play high-profile friendlies. Not sure his signing has been as rosy as everyone makes out. (I stand to be corrected obviously).

Sorry bout that; dcfcsteve jumped in at my computer.

Still, think the belief out there is that he has revolutionsed football in America. Let's go off topic and discuss that, while ignoring my previous post.

To be fair to him though, on a footballing level, he hasn't looked out of place at all in that Milan side.

The slower tempo would suit him. He wasn't great last night (first time I've seen him) and whenthe pace increased he looked knackered.

He's still good enough to do a job for a lot of teams.

Thats because the average age of the Milan side is about 46

Beckham is a circus, full stop.

A rich one, but a circus nonetheless.

he signed a mega bucks deal to join la galaxy as he thought his england career was finished .. terrible move in my view but me thinks he only saw the dollars $$$. now he is back in england team he wants to move to italy... why should la galaxy let him go !! also milan did not even come close to meeting the transfer price galaxy were looking ... to many are able to walk away from contracts these days .. if beckham wants to join milan so badly let him buy out his contract .. i'm sure he could afford it

Why didnt he play for a smaller club or drop down a league and finish his career that way like say Denis Irwin, Roy Keane, Paul Ince, Robbie Fowler etc.

    Answer...show biz baby.

108 caps is an insult to Bobby Moore.

Stats in the Sunday Times showed that Moore played something like 1200 minutes more than Becks. Moore would have played 90 mins in the majority of his games where as Becks did so in only 55 games.

60-70 caps would have been sufficient for a player of his talent.

Milan only want him to sell jerseys in Asia, so did Madrid. Sad but true.

best offer at the time ... what has changed since then beckham has hardly kicked a ball in the states .. plays a couple of half decent games for england and milan & suddenly milan cannot do without him... they need the revenue on shirt sales / sponsers etc .. after kaka left them in the s**t by not signing for city.. milan were delighted to take 100 million but tried to be to smart leaving decision to kaka !! ... find it extremly hard to understand why now milan want him so badly yet only offer 5 million as transfer fee..

Do you think any of them would've turned down the move to Galaxy for that money? Get real...

    Ya especially Fowler££

If Becks is so interested in the money why doesn't he just forget about Milan and head back to his lucrative contract?

Because Milan are persumably offering a nice bit of cash too, and it's with a much better team. Best of both worlds, as far as I can see.

I think Beckham thought his career was basically over after Real Madrid, and took a huge retirement package in LA. Now he has realised he still has something to offer at a high level, and wants to play at that level while he can.

Milan being a centre of fashion won't do any harm to his family either.
