Seriously, i'd reconsider that point. This was the USA team that reached the world cup finals

11 out of the 23 players play in the MLS. Another 3 were at clubs in the championship. So 14 of their 23 players play at a level below the championship or at best, at championship level. Yet they are able to compete in the world cup finals. I think either you are mistaken, or you don't know what your talking about.

Talking Is Andy Reid hungry enough?

Anyone thing he has lost his appetite since he moved up to the Premiership?

I saw a lot of Andy Reid when he was playing outside the Premiership and I really thought he was the real deal. I still think he has talent to burn and is young enough to make it still if he has the hunger (no snide comment intended). Trouble is why would an average Premiership team like Spurs let him go? Very difficult to stop the downward spiral once it starts.

I think Reid excels at teams where he is the main man (Forest and Charlton) - maybe he struggled fitting in with the so called star names that Spurs had?. Reid got injured at Spurs on a frequent basis and couldn't get any momentum going and when Charlton came in with a bid they got rid. I don't think they shipped him off because he was overweight. He was podgy at Forest and could still play for 90 minutes no bother. Spurs must have knew this when they bought him surely.....I really believe if he stays fit this season he'll do the business.

Reid has the talent & drive but not the physique for top level football.

If he was good enough would have been kept by Spurs but he never excelled. I've no idea if he lazy training or bad metabolism but either way he is unable to play more good 60 minutes in the Premiership or in Internationals.

I don't think just because Spurs shipped him off that it means he wasn't good enough. Plenty of teams over the years have shipped off players who went on to achieve better things and prove those clubs/managers wrong - McGrath and Fergie being one Irish example. When Fergie got rid who'd have thought he'd be the lynchpin of a Villa and Irish side a few years later? Look at the way Arsene Wenger brought in various players from Italian sides who weren't deemed good enough and went on to be world class players? With the right manager behind Reid I think he can come good. His weight isn't ideal but I don't think it has a serious detriment on his performances. He is still quick on the turn and speedy over short distances.

Don't get me wrong he wasn't at his best at Spurs but being injured/moved all over midfield did not help.

especially as charlton look doomed to get relegated giving him very little chance of a transfer to the premiership. although not a disaster for us i suppose as he will get in a good pre-season and hopefully be fit come september to give us more options

Yeah, I read that a few days ago. They used the words "Inspirational Reid" on a Charlton fanzine.

Disaster for him. Looks like he'll be dropping a division next year now.

Pity, he was in great form just before his injury... it will take a lot for him now to get back playing regularly in a premier league team

7 points from their last 9? We're doomed for qualification then so

you say charlton are doomed for relegation despite the fact they have taken 7 points out of a possible 9. Using your logic, we're doomed not to qualify, haveing a similar recent record.

i would make us having not only 9 from 9 but 12 from 12 which is much better than 7 from 9. and if we don't qualify it won't be because the last 3 or 4 games but moreso the ones before and the ones to come.... the same of charlton if they go down it obviously won't be because of their last 3 games but the ones before and after.

i honestly couldn't give a tóss about charlton, or sheffield united or watford, liverpool or man yoo. this is an ireland forum (i.e. about the irish national team) not an english premiership forum. i honestly didn't think i would be causing offense to anyone by saying i thought charlton would get relegated. but yes i think they will get relegated if you must know.

and your doomed for qualification statement should surely have said doomed to miss out on qualification if it were to make the sense you speak of above. post more clearly in future if you are trying to make a point. good man

i dont care about english teams either but would rather see our lads prosper in the premiership hence it would be better if charlton stayed up simply cos one of our most gifted players plays for them.

hopefully west ham will go down with watford anyway. no irish interest.

if charlton do stay up it will be most likely at the expense of sheffield utd (a.quinn, s.quinn, d.geary) as they are only 4 points ahead although a distant possibility of either wigan (kilbane) or maybe man city (r.dunne, s.ireland).

in that context, yes, good riddence to watford and west ham but would rather charlton to go down than sheffield utd tbh as lose 1 player with charlton but 3 with sheff utd and definately wouldn't want to lose man city. however wouldn't mind either wigan or even fulham to go down instead of charlton. but really don't give a tóss as if the players are really good enough they will get back up.

I am gutted for Reidy - he has played well whenever he hasn't been injured this season and I think the Charlton fans have taken to him but it looks like its Championship football for him next season unless Sheff Utd crash and burn.
