Just checked. You're right, Rooney joined the squad for the week of training but was released before the squad departed for Faro.
McShane, O'Kane, Pilkington & Pearce also joined up but were released.

The revised squad includes two uncapped players, Eunan O’Kane and Alan Judge, while three players – Stephen Quinn (knee), Harry Arter (groin) and Ciaran Clark (quad) - have been ruled out because of injury.

Explains why Clark has been out of the villa team recently
Explains why he wasn't in the squad yesterday, but he's played a League Cup game for them since being dropped for Lescott.
Really disappointed with Clark's injury- was hoping he'd be starting for these games having looked assured in the last two, albeit against weaker opposition.
Furthermore, it would have given us three centre-halves that I'd be relatively comfortable with against the two sides we're coming up against (Wilson, O'Shea and Clark). I don't like the prospect of Keogh, McShane or Pearce coming into the side in case of injury or fatigue to O'Shea or Wilson given the quality of our opposition.
The rest of the squad is as you were really but McClean and Whelan are two we could miss against Germany.
Coleman looks a big doubt. Would you risk him against Germany or save him for Poland?
He's not in the Everton squad at all today again so I'd say we'll be lucky if he makes either.
I know he hasn't played much of late, but is it a surprise that Gibson has been left out considering he is match fit again?
MON must have read your post and had a change of heart

Eventually....
...when your form deserves it.
O'Neill must really have something against Keiren Westwood..
Also disappointed for Shane Duffy who's been performing well this season.
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
strange one on westwood alright. particularly considering forde is in and out (mainly out) of a struggling league one team.
Has Westwood started last couple of games for SWFC?
So Coleman and Clark out and Wilson doubtful. We could be in all sorts of sh!t for these games. Absolute joke that those three goalkeepers are preferred to Westwood. Glass is half empty I'm afraid... just praying for a Poland win in Edinburgh at this stage.
yes, straight back in the team once he recovered from injury. played in their last 3 league games - all wins.
