That Waterford semi final was 1800, exactly, wasn't it?

I wouldn't bother replying to that troll Macy. He's just jealous of how well run our club is compared to the third or fourth reincarnation of his club. I'm in the middle of producing a DVD on how to keep a club afloat even in the toughest of times to send down to him. Hours of viewing for him to keep him happy!

1,400 as the official attendance is very poor considering we had 2,000 for our last game of the season against the Rovers B team with little to no away fans. Rovers had the biggest travelling support I've seen at a Town match in a long long time and I remember thinking on the night that our attendance looked very bad. I'm actually very surprised there was such a small home turnout.

Galway fans constantly ribbing us about not having many locals playing is very tiresome from a City and County with literally ten times our population. I think you'll find a huge amount of Longford fans also have to "do all their business" or live in Dublin, that is just the reality. For the record, we do currently have a local lad in the senior squad.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Where has the 700 come from? Extratime have it down as 536 and don't have estimated beside it so presumably it's the official attendance. I'd agree with extratime as I said previously the stand wasn't even full and there weren't many standing around the ground either. I was surprised the turnout was so low if I'm honest.

700 was the only estimate I was given. Have an email sent off looking for official stat but haven't checked it yet this morning to see. If there's an official figure online though that's helpful.

It has to be more? - there were six seating sections for Rovers fans, 2 behind the goal, four by the side of the pitch - each section seats 140 (14 row of ten seats?) or more I think

You're right DrDoc. From pitch to back wall is 9 rows wit each red and black section consisting of 28 seats in total, 14 red and 14 black. They had one full section behind the goal and 2 on the side of the pitch. That gives you a total of 756. Of these 756 positions both behind the goals and along the pitch were not full. So roughly 600 rovers fans were in there.

This is taking attendance arguments to a whole new level. I've seen arguments about how many people there were, how much the ground holds, over-inflation of crowd size, counting of stewards/officials and a whole host of other minor arguments, but how many rows of seats and how many seats in each column, that's a new one. Fantastic though.

Good luck trying it in Finn Park.

Ha I'd forgotten about the antics from both clubs for that semi final. "They screwed us down there so we'll screw them even more up here"! The FAI had to mediate eventually to allow us to sign Kirby and Reynolds that summer.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

When you have a full seated ground Nigel it is easy to count the rows of seats. All I know for sure is that the designated area for away fans at the CCS will hold no more than 700-800. Sat night this area had a good few areas vacant especially section 0 side of that area. For that reason, and just a rough estimate there were about 550-600 Rovers fans. But on my reckoning I'd go with 600.

I'd say if everyone in the Rovers section had to sit down in their seat, there'd have been less empty space than there was, but I'm not going to count the seats.

Well when you're out there 5 days of the week for the last number of years you'll end up counting them on a break just to pass the time.

No figure given in Tallaght. ET have estimated 4,000 which sounds a bit high to me.

    Great crowd at Oriel.

Just under 1400 at EDP tonight. Happy enough with that considering we lost both of our opening games and Drogheda wouldn't be the biggest crowd puller (no disrespect to the Drogs). Hopefully the crowd will be closer to the 2k mark for Longford next week.

We always bring a big away crowd to Galway its a short trip and a lot of people do make a weekend out of if, lots of interest in it already.

    Limerick vs Longford - 481

According to a few fans at it it was closer to 340-350.
