4-4-2 with strikers with a combined age of 65 and a player who gets outpaced by 37 yr old Swedish league players and a 5 ft 6 perennial squad player in midfield.

If playing like we did in Russia is our strategy then would it not make sense to play Long up front on his own at the least? If we aren't realistically going to create chances than what is the point of Keane?

I guess the thinking is that we might get 1 chance in the game. If we do Robbie is the guy we would want it to fall to

Our tackling and pressing so far has been decent. But we're are chaotic in the extreme at the back and look very panicky.

Germany do not look to be too threatening, they have possession but in fairly safe area, bit like when we have possession,
indeed like us, they look like they are never gonna score

Eh... He should've dine better. No matter.

McClean has been McGeady-esque with his crossing.

It's almost worse than getting thrashed. I'm having a full kitten farm. But that's as good a first half as we could have hoped for.

Woeful first 15 then got a bit more organsied and only a poor individual error created a chance for Germany. Part from 'that' cross McLean has been Ireland's best player, composed and keeping the ball while attacking the full back when he can. Quinn looked decent once he settled too. Walters completely pointless as has been said on here he doesn't win headers yet he seems to be the outlet for long balls. It's going to be an interesting second half.

I'd say that situation suits us just fine.

Walters has won four or five headers. He'd probably competed for about 8 or 9. He's also been decent at holding the ball up when the ball's been punted out of defence a couple of times.
