English Newcastle fan tells me that they are about to sign "the Irish Messi".

Dean Smith:
http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/09/reve...ted-brentford/“The clubs that were interested in him thought he was further ahead in his fitness that he was.
“I don’t think anyone would begrudge Judgey a move to a Premier League, or a massive Championship, club.
“I’m sure he’ll come back better than before.
“He probably wasn’t as far ahead as he thought he might be but he’s still progressing. I’m not sure of any timescales – I think it’s too early to say.”
the leg break was a real shame, hope it has no permanent effect, I expect they get the best of treatment these says though should be OK.
Brentford playmaker Alan Judge is nearing a landmark in his recovery from the broken leg he suffered in April.
The Irishman has been out of action since a horrific Luke Hyam tackle at Ipswich and has been making steady progress since the break.
And his bone is around two weeks away from the bone fully calcifying, which will allow him to take the next step in his recovery.
Head coach Dean Smith said: “Alan Judge is into a stage in his rehab where he wants to keep stepping up now.
“There's a week or two left for the full calcification of the bone. We have to make sure he's right before he comes back.”

Really unlucky with that injury. In the form of his life when it happened and suitors including Newcastle knocking on his door. Interesting reference in the article to O'Neill talking to Hogan's agent over the Christmas (perhaps covered elsewhere).

He's being linked to Aston Villa in the tabloids this week.
Birmingham's official Twitter account has started following Alan Judge.

Not following him anymore. Clearly not interested in signing him.
rumours in the press linking him with Newcastle, he posted on twitter saying he hasn't spoken to anyone: https://twitter.com/10judgey/statuse...12236398137344
Haven't spoke to anybody regarding my future. So don't believe everything u read
Judge targeting return next season; hints at Brentford stay.

He had a double leg break almost a year ago and he's now targeting next August. Hence I worry also for Seamus.

Point taken, but just think Henrik Larsson if you want to see the glass half full though.
Signed a new two year deal: http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/ar...d-3648409.aspx
Requires further surgery but doesn't sound too bad.

Terrible injury for him just as he was at the apex of his career to date and big clubs (I use the term loosely - perhaps bigger might be more apt) like Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday were queuing up for his services. I remember one game where he ran the whole show against Wednesday, including being the deadball specialist. Fingers crossed.
