I can't remember what they were selling, apart from their act.

I don't care if Germany go on to win this game 10-0 with Ireland never leaving their penalty area, the RTE first team panel are unbelievably insufferable right now. New blood in that role, please.

And now at FT. All three of those men should be quietly shuffled offstage. Their unrelenting negativity and ignorance is staggering. We all saw it during the World Cup and its getting worse and worse.

Living in the non-borderlands dark north means I can't catch RTE anymore. I used to miss it. Now I just feel sorry for anyone who has to put it up with it.

Last night's Sky panel with Quinn, Hamann and Carragher was perfectly reasonably and actually talked about the game instead of playing favourites over players. Hyperbole free analysis. When's the last time RTE served that up?

Dunphy is an absolute thundering disgrace. Despite a creditable 1-1 draw with the World Cup winners of just over 3 months ago, he still feels the need to absolutely rip into the team and management. Very quickly switched over the Quinn, Hamann and Carragher on Sky who were excellent.

At least Darragh has replaced Bill and pulls Eamon on some of his bullsh!t. Maloney made the point that Germany still had six guys that played in the WC final. Dunphy contradicted him saying that they had six in the squad but not on the team. They then went through the players and Moloney was proved right (if you include Gotze who came on in the WC final). Dunphy just carried on.

Brady made the comment before the match that we have mostly Championship players in the line-up, or something similar. Maloney, clearly knowing this wasn't entirely accurate, asked Brady to list out the Championship players. Brady named a couple like McClean and maybe Forde and continued by including Meyler and when struggling mentioned Hoolahan, who wasn't even starting. Maloney subtly pointed out that Meyler was playing in the PL.

Glad I didnt have to put up with RTE.

I´m not saying last night's performance shouldn't warrant criticism in places, because it should. McGeady shouldnt have been played centrally, I dont think Keane can start without Hoolahan and I just don't like Walters in that wide role even if he was picked to offer help to Meyler. We got away with it which was always possible. Sometimes theres not much difference between losing 3 nil and a draw. The team that doesnt take its chances is so often hit by a sucker punch. Often its us on the other end.

I think that was the extra part of the joy from last night given it's so often been us conceding in the 94th minute.

Did they really slag the team off after getting a draw with the World Champions?

The public will surely tire of the default 'controversery' tone every time a match is being analysed.

The p!ssed-Off Twitter Reaction To The RTE Panel’s Negativity

Right so we’ve seen how Twitter reacted to this moment of ecstasy. Over in Montrose, the RTE lads were up to their usual wet blanketry, which hasn’t gone down well with anyone really, what with Ireland just having earned a draw against the newly-crowned World Champions. Here’s a snippet of how they managed to **** off plenty of Irish tweeters.

Watching Dunphy & Giles on delay and I would like to boogy woogy on their heads, the analysis is a joke. #rtesoccer #COYBIG

Dunphy understandably unhappy with being joint top of the table, 3 points ahead of Germany after three matches. Give it over! #rtesoccer — Eoghan Rice (@rice_e) October 14, 2014
Is the miserable post match analysis necessary??? Ultimate buzz kill! #COYBIG #RTEsoccer

1-1 Unbelievable result and we have on our home station @RTEsoccer 3 old men lashing the country …. Big turn off @SkyFootball for me

Have decided to switch off @RTEsoccer and instead sit in a dark room drinking gin as an appropriate response to being top of the table. — Eoghan Rice (@rice_e) October 14, 2014
The RTE soccer coverage would be better with more ad breaks. The extended bits allow the lads to go way, way OTT.

It’s embarrassing that a tabloid standard journalist is still on the RTE panel trying to tell Martin o Neil what team to pick @RTEsoccer — Aaron McD (@aaronmcd1987) October 14, 2014
#rtesoccer Dunphy can never be happy but I agree with him this will go down as a great result in our History only if we qualify.

I suspect this was picked up on in Montrose. The tone had started to change even by the end of the broadcast

    Has it?

I think we've benefitted in injury time more often than not.

    Scored -
    Germany last night
    Italy in Bari
    Germany in Ibaraki
    Spain in 2002 as well
    Albania at home in 2005
Georgia in the last away qualifier
Cyprus at home (the 1-1 draw)

    Conceded -
    Croatia away in 1999
    Italy at home in 2011
Macedonia away (probably counts for two)

That's off the top of my head anyway. I'm sure there's more on both sides.

What makes you say that? I only ask because I heard him mention Lawrenson's goal last night, when discussing the last competitive meeting i.e. a non friendly.
