Kelly rues untimely injury
Highly-regarded Athlone Town defender Alan Kelly has given voice to the scale of his disappointment after his chances of nailing down a first-team slot in Aaron Callaghan’s side for the start of the new eircom League season were scuppered by a potentially serious knee injury.
Kelly was selected for the Irish Colleges’ side in Cyprus in January, when he lined up alongside Cork City quartet Colin Patrick O’Brien, Cillian Lordan, Brendan Sweeney and Shane Guthrie and Galway United striker Barry Moran.
