    Plymouth keen on Judge move

    May 11, 2009

Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock is reportedly keen to sign Blackburn Rovers’ Republic of Ireland under-21 star Alan Judge on a permanent basis in the summer.

Judge has spent the final three months of the season on loan at Home Park, scoring twice in 17 appearances.

Fellow Blackburn player Paul Gallagher was also on loan at Plymouth, finishing the season as Argyle’s top scorer with 13 goals.

The pair contributed greatly to Plymouth’s successful battle against relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship, and Sturrock is hopeful that they can be lured to the club on a permanent basis during the summer.

Personally I think he should stay at Blackburn. He's probably not the typical Sam Allardyce brand of footballer but by all accounts he's been excellent during his time at Plymouth (apparently one of their best players) and certainly has the talent if not the strength and power quite yet to be a regular in the Premiership sooner rather than later. He could potentially provide a more creative option than Hunt on the right in the long term.

Speaking of Blackburn they've possibly the future of the Ireland midfield's wide positions in their ranks - Treacy, Doran and Judge. Hopefully one or more can make the breakthrough next season. I'd bank on Doran or Judge over Treacy at present.

Here's what the Argyle fans think of him:

Take note everyone. Cue frenetic argument and name calling 2 years from now...

I thought Judge looked good against Germany & Spain U21s.

Very skillful but isn't he the latest in the Irish production line of skillful midgets?

Yeah he's a midget but SHunt is also. I think you can still get away with it in the wide attacking positions if you're talented enough though some would say in Hunt's case he seems to manage even without the skill.
