How'd yous manage to outbid Bohs for them?
GUFC to announce a few more signings tomorrow, just waiting on paperwork to be completed. All players are currently unattached, rumoured to be coming from sporting fingals squad before they went under.
How'd yous manage to outbid Bohs for them?
the players are free agents, we wont be bidding for anybody, just guarantee them first team football but at reduced pay. Three players waiting international clearance at the moment as well as three more waiting fai paperwork clearance at gufc today.
Lorcan Fitzgerald, ex Fingal played for Shels in the LSC tonight. Presume he'd have to be signed to play? Another good addition for them.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Can he not play as a trialist since he is a free agent?

Our game tonight wasn't in the Leinster Senior Cup, was just a friendly, we can't afford to be adding him to our squad though, ridiculous.

You're right it was a friendly, I got confused, apologies. He could be pretty cheap at this stage though, sign until July just to keep playing?

Signed now.

It also mentions that Mulvenna and Kenna are 'ineligible'. For the whole season?
Until July I'd say, probably didn't get a letter of release from whatever club they were at before the deadline.

Could be 'can't play for 3 clubs in the one season' rule. Both played for Dundalk and Athlone respectively after July 2010 which is the month the Junior/Inter season 2010/11 officially began. They switched to Inter/Junior sides before the transfer window closed in September which meant they were already on their 2nd club in a season. Their switch to Shels may be interpreted by registration as their 3rd club in the 2010/11 season which will rule them out until June at the earliest.
The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians
Kenna definitely isn't much of a big deal anyway, would have struggled to make the bench anyway. Mulvenna will be a bit of a loss, but to be fair, he wasn't going to be first choice striker anyways. Fitzgerald is a cracking signing but we must be seriously pushing it with our budget, really have to go up this year.

Gareth was decent for us until he got injured, was out for a good bit.

Fitzgerald is very solid as a full back but he also breaks out as a winger. He scored away against Maritimo in the Europa last year and got the maddest goal of the year for Fingal with a cross from just at the corner flag that looped over the keeper into the net. If Matthews allows him to overlap up the line he'll get or make 5-10 goals this season. (He might be responsible for conceding 2-3 by getting caught out of position too)
Pat Fenlon still in the hunt for more players according to quotes in The Star:
No doubt this caution will come as a great relief to all Bohs fans." But I am talking to a few people. There are still free agents out there and I have been offered a lot of players, some big names.
But I'm not just going to sign somebody and spend money on them because they're a name"
There is a really funny bit earlier in the article by Cathal Dervan, which makes you wonder if Dervan actually follows LoI events:
" But Fenlon knows that the squad he has scrimped and saved to throw together at cash-strapped Bohs is far from equipped to chase Rovers to the November finish line, not yet anyway"
Can't wait to see Glen Crowe in a Bohs shirt again.
he's actually hanging out in Malahide at the moment being managed by Vinnie Perth. I dont think he will play on pro or semi-pro terms as it will affect that sportsperson tax rebate thingy that he gets from the government.
