Contains less turtle references, and with added Shakespeare and Parks & Rec!
In the second part of our review of 2023, myself and Mark Kennedy of Hawkeye Sidekick review the Republic of Ireland Women's year, the build up to their first World Cup appearance, performance at the tournament itself, and the Nations League. We also take a look at the performance of the U17 Mens Team in the UEFA Under-17 Championships in Hungary, and discuss what the experience could mean to a highly talented squad, some of which have already gone on to play first team football

Over the last few months, I've been rewriting the stats site to make it easier to navigate, especially on mobiles.
The finished version went live earlier, and you can check it out here https://irish-abroad.appspot.com/
The pages are a little slower to open, but once opened, they run really quickly.
If you encounter any issues, let me know here and I'll fix it as soon as I can
Something for the weekend that's in it ~ ~ lads and ladies.

Tets… is Fleetwood Town the team with the most Irish and/or former LOI players in and around the first team? I notice they had Lawal (LOI), Kilkenny, Omochere (LOI) , Graydon (LOI) and Lonergan (LOI) on the pitch today as well as McMullan (NIFL) on the bench. Coughlan (LOI) and Hayes are also there. Patterson (LOI) was starting though not Irish.
I think so. Brighton would run them close with five players around the first team - Jamie Mullins and Ferguson(Bohs), Leigh Kavanagh(Bray), Mark O'Mahony(Cork), and Killian Cahill(Shamrock Rovers) - plus Andy Moran(Bray) is out on loan
Lincoln have five - Danny Madriou(Bohs/Shamrock Rovers), Paudie O'Connor(Limerick FC), Dylan Duffy(Shamrock Rovers/UCD), Sean Roughan(Drogheda), and Jack Moylan(Bohemians/Wexford Youths/Shelbourne) - as well as Freddie Draper, who is English, but was on loan at Drogheda last year, and Oisin Gallagher on loan at Drogheda this year
Myself and Philip Flanagan are delighted to be joined on the latest podcast episode by Richard van Zijl of Excelsior Rotterdam fan podcast "Fein op Woudestein" to discuss the history of the club, how Troy Parrott is performing in the Eredivisie this season, and cult hero, for both Ireland and Excelsior fans, David Connolly!

I'm joined by Mark Kennedy of Hawkeye Sidekick and Philip Flanagan of The Bottomless Pit of Football to discuss the Republic of Ireland's friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland, under interim manager John O'Shea. Did the rookie boss do enough to convince the FAI, and the fans, that he's a genuine candidate for full time manager of the senior men's team?
While the U21s got their European Championship campaign back on track against San Marino, the more important result came in Italy, where a last minute goal earned a draw for Turkey. What do these do results mean for the team's chances of qualification for next year's tournament in Slovakia?
And finally, we discuss the women's team's opening fixtures in their European Championship qualifying campaign. We've earned the right to face the top teams in the world, what do we need to do to continue facing them?
