there was a attendance figure in one of the tabloids yesterday for our game against Drogs.. I cant remember the exact figure but luckily enough I keep the reports with any of town pictures on it and get back to you.

Caulfields cork tinted take on the Dublin clubs... thoughts?
From a Bohs perspective, we are marketing ourselves in many, many ways within our community (see the poster campaign), we are offering Kid initiatives and so on. I dont think that Rovers are doing a lot more in practical terms and their catchment area is pretty well defined and boundaried which I think helps (along with their sizable longer term fans). Bohs are having some successes, though limited, but its not for a lack of trying which Caulfield seems to assert - our previous boards, style of play and lack of success did drive a lot of fans away. It is not long ago that Cork (vers 12.0) was incarnated so its a bit rich to be lectured on sustainability etc.Caulfield told reporters after the game: “I get disappointed when I watch a lot of the games in Dublin because I look at the teams getting 1,200, 1,300, 1,400 people and they’re near the top of the table. And I’m saying, why aren’t they marketing their club? Why aren’t they bringing kids to their games? Bar Rovers, there’s no one in Dublin who attracts crowds anymore, which is very, very disappointing.
Roddys on a rant too

Bull****, I'll accept that maybe Shels eat a little into Bohs northside support and possibly a little of Rovers via around Ringsend but Pat's have a small, loyal support in Inchicore that has no impact on Bohs or Rovers.
Pat's are 7th in attendance this season, does he think any of those other clubs are going to bring anything more to the league? Or that Rovers are suddenly going to get 1500 more supporters by virtue of being the only LOI side in the southside.
Shels crowds are poor but in the premier they are guaranteed to average 1200, only Harps out of the first division sides would be capable of bettering that in the premier division.
6 clubs from one city in a league of 20 is too much but when 4 of those sides get are averaging in the top 10 whats the problem?
The 'too many clubs in Dublin crowd' never seems to come up with a better alternative.
While it's fun to get mad at the stupid stuff Roddy says, it's also important to remember that what's he's basically just saying stuff because simply shouting "Roddy Collins" at the top of his voice wouldn't get him any attention. But just like Matt Damon in Team America, that's all he really says.

To be blunt, I think Caulfield should educate himself before spouting off like this. It does my head in to see someone who has done very well indeed out of the league denigrating the efforts of volunteers who're there for the love not the money.
Last week we saw a piece where Dermot Keely was talking about how he'd earned the right to get into Oriel without paying by being in the bar on time. Do these guys have a clue? So few former players. even those who made considerable money from it, come back to make a positive contribution to clubs unless paid.

We probably have a larger latent support than most which we can tap into when we're doing well. Everyone in Cork is a Cork City fan in theory as we represent the entire City and county. Derry, Sligo, Galway Limerick and Waterford probably have the same to a lesser extent.
Dublin teams will struggle a little as unless you live near one of the grounds who do you support? You don't look at the LOI table and see Bohemian F.C. or Shamrock Rovers flying high and immediately think thats my team.
That said there is work that can be done. We have shown that if you have a winning team and you get the word out there you can get bigger crowds. I have no doubt that if we were mid table we wouldn't be impressing anyone.
The most important thing though is to get kids hooked from an early age, it takes a long time to pay off so it may not seem like its working but a large part of our success right now is the stuff the family enclosure have been doing for years. Reaching out to communities around Cork and getting them involved and up to a game. Kids come along have a good time and then years later when they see that there is a big game or that the team is doing well and then they come along with the memories of their earlier visit.
My comment didn't quite read the way I meant it- the bit about the pint was just a description of the means used. Dermot was, so far as I'm aware, paid for his time at Oriel. To my mind that does not automatically entitle him to get in free now. If he wants to go to a game he should pay like anyone else.

We probably have more support from Clondalkin/Ballyfermot than we do in Inchicore
We always seem to get stick about our crowds yet we are always top 5/6 when the averages come out at the end of the season.
Realistically we are always going to be behind Cork and Rovers (when in Tallaght) and whatever provisional team that are doing well at the time (Sligo/Dundalk).
We now have a marketing team in place so hopefully they can get more people to games with the limited resources they have.
Here on a technicality.
You have to laugh when you see Roddy's comments about half the managers in the league have failed the 10 game test. I'm sure he's hoping for a few vacancies to come up.
Peter Hutton is doing a better job at Derry than Roddy did and probably on a smaller budget.
