Funny, I was only thinking at the weekend that I wouldn't be surprised if Delaney got called up, especially if Wilson doesn't. Paul O'Shea's recent post on Duffy probably made O'Neill's mind up.

I wouldn't consider that the biggest invitation that Damian has ever had.
Its kind of, if we are stuck and you really really want to be in the squad(and possibly play) then we may consider you.
Anyway maybe both parties involved see it otherwise.

Keogh and Clark have done well but Wilson and Clark aren't playing. Then you have to consider McShane doing well at Reading. Think he will only be considered should O'shea get injured.
Delaney will get in if there are some injuries but other than that I think O'Neill will stick with players who got him there. I think he'll leapfrog players like Alex Pearce who didn't get a run though
Folding my way into the big money!!!
What are people's views on this? It seems to have divided opinion. Why, I don't know... seems a clear penalty to me (and I'm anything but a Liverpool well wisher).
minimal contact if any. very soft penalty
There is clear contact from Delaney's knee on Benteke's left foot.
I would think it is very doubtful that the contact caused Benteke to fall to the ground or even impeded him in any way, but maybe he should get the benefit of the doubt.
I think Delaney is unlucky because he doesn't really mean it, he pulls out of the tackle but (clearly) catches him accidentally with his knee. That's just tough luck though I'm afraid and Benteke has every entitlement to go down. That's how I'd see it anyway.
surely a foul is committed due to another players direct action that causes a player to go down? if delaneys action isn't what actually caused benteke to collapse to the ground then no foul in my book. I don't understand the concept of "entitlement to go down". you are either tripped or you're not
Delaney goes to ground, gets nowhere near the ball and very clearly clips Benteke's foot. I'm not sure how you can use the words "if any" in relation to the contact, it's there for all to see in the second angle above. Could Benteke have stayed on his feet? Maybe, but then he probably wouldn't get a penalty despite being fouled, that's where the entitlement comes from I think. I don't even think the contact is that minimal to be honest.

He didn't touch him period, having seen it from more than one angle. Simply not a penalty.
http://www.the42.ie/damien-delaney-c...46338-Mar2016/I can honestly say I didn't make contact with benteke today and IF there was slight contact I didnt impede him and certainly didn't feel there was enough to award a penalty in the 96th min... If a penalty is awarded that late it has to be unequivocal, I waited over an hour to speak with the officials and in fairness to Andre Marriner he said he didn't think it was a penalty but he trusted his linesman that much he awarded it. With the way the game was ref'd and the physicality of both teams it was unbelievably harsh. With how Wilfred and Yannick were man handled by Liverpool players over the course of the game, which I've no problem with, it was a really tough decision to take so late. All I can do is swallow it and hope to put this right.
I think it was enough to trip Benteke. His fall did not look in any way simulated, it was an organic fall.
he quite clearly did connect with him and in my opinion, even though there was no intent to contact and seeming intent to pull out, it was rightly called as a penalty.
(I need a shower after that)
video here shows there's minimal contact

My initial reaction on seeing it was that it was incredibly stupid of Delaney to dive in and that it was stonewall peno. Even if he did try to pull out of it, what the hell was he doing in the first place sliding in that position.
He definitely clipped Benteke too, not even a slight doubt that it was penalty
Its really not that complicated!!!
The question I ask myself is, why would he fall over if he wasn't fouled? The day we start to suspect such malign japery from Premier League footballers is the day society breaks down entirely.
