Wednesday earned a plucky draw against QPR yesterday thanks to Lee Grant. Delighted for Grant as I haven't been that convinced by him, think he sometimes looks a bit nervous in goals, so a performance like that should do him the world of good. As for Kingdom Hoop's precious Rangers, well it looked like the club has turned a corner I think, I'll happily retract my prediction that you lot will be relegated this year, Wednesday are still going to win me that €50 though!

Judging by what's happened at Derby, if I was a Championship manager I'd look to get to the play offs and lose and then I'd keep my job. Because, unless I am bank rolled like at Sunderland, my team won't progress in the Premiership and I'll be sacked.

Sunderland are making a good fist of proving that money doesn't assure you of survival by any stretch.

Some interesting results last night. Watford's long ball game is starting to falter. Blades win away at Charlton and Owls continue their winning ways at home to Barnsley. Great run after losing the first 6 in a row QPR still in a mess (sorry Kingdomhoop).

Thanks. Pity is often all I have to draw on!

Yeah, lost 3-1 away to brutish Stoke. Unfortunately the manly coal miners style out-muscled our delicate continental approach. Encouragingly, it was 2-0 at half time and then QPR went down to ten men after 47 odd minutes and actually dominated the game for 20 minutes, scoring a goal and going with a positive 4-3-2 formation that shows the manager might be quite decent. Alas, the defence is weak. Needs serious strengthening in the January sales. Hopefully Wednesday won't be too far adrift at that stage so QPR can mount a dramatic latter half of the season overtaking manoeuvre to agonisingly deprive Jebus of a €50 that he'd only waste on Owls Monthly, his toenails, or other such unworthy rubbish.

Your new manager any relation to the great Paulo di Canio?

I'm afraid he's one of the D-E Canios. His grandfather is said to be of farming stock from back beyond Lyrecrompane, on the road to Knocknagoshel, near Dan Paddy Andy's Cross actually.

All places names are genuine Kerry places, however whether the De Canios of that air-ee-a are related is awaiting confirmation.

Would he be anything to Michael, or "Mick" De Canio that bought the pig the other year?
No, Mr. Beard, I expect you to dye!

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

I'd love to see Wolves go up and Sunderland stay up after they sack their manager Lot of Irish players at Sunderland whom I'd prefer to see making a career for themselves in the Premiership.

Keogh seems to have lost his place at Wolves or is he injured do you know?

Another night of strange results!...glad we got back on winning ways

Just goes to show that Watford,( having only won once in 6 games yet remained top of the pile! ) and any of the other contenders, couldn't even compete with the like of Derby!!

If Watford win the league, I would prefer us to take half the money and stay put.

He missed a peno against Barnsley last night as Wolves lost 1-0. I think it was he but the commentators on Sky called the guy Key-oh so perhaps it wasn't he.

    Sure was Andy Keogh unfortunately.

Plenty of Irish making an impact in that league. Clinton is on fire, JJ O'Toole 2 in 2 games, McCann, Best, Reid, Holland, Burgess and others on the scoresheet in the last week.

Andy Reid is too good for that division, I wouldn't be surprised to see Keane make a move for him in the January transfer window. Every Charlton match report from the guardian highlights how well Reidy is doing - fingers crossed he stays injury free and gets another crack at the PL.

But why would he make it now when he didn't make it at Spurs? I think he's in limbo land between the two. Too good for one, not quite good enough for the other.

Watched Wolves vs Burnley today on Sky. Owen Coyle for Ireland manager ?? A lot of Irish on display and although it was a good game, none really impressed. Elliott in particular, despite scoring from a peno, was otherwise anonymous. Mahon did ok in midfield for Burnley who play good football and were the better side and won.

Then watched Stoke vs Watford. One of the worst games I have ever seen. Wolves vs Burnley was different class compared to that game and Watford are top of the Championship

I think Reid would become the main man at Sunderland (as he is at Charlton) and I think this brings the best out of him whereas at Spurs he was just another player. It's like being a big fish in a small pond - some players prefer that and can thrive in those conditions. Take them out of that environment and they struggle (Reid at Spurs, Clough at Liverpool and Birtles at Man Utd). Reidy also did well for Charlton last season in the PL before injuries kicked in, I'm confident he has the ability to make a living in the PL if he stays fit and healthy.

I was at the game........couldn't disagree.....absolute dire!...shows the gap between the Championship and the Premier League has broadened substantially!
