Johnny Giles is John McCain (experienced, fought heroically for our nation in his youth, pretty freakin' old)

Hoddle is Huckabee due to his quirky religious views.

Deschamps represents the youthful, Barack Obama-type, candidate for change. Would be wildly popular but lacks the experience of other candidates. Also, are we sure we can really trust him...?

Finally, I would say that Mick is Hillary - they've both been there before, know their way around the place. Main problem is that they would split the country with many people still bearing a grudge. Against that, they may benefit from the sympathy vote, with lots of people believing they were cruelly ****ed over by the most important man in their life...

Who is the Dick Cheney character? Delaney?
"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.

And Stan makes a perfect George W,

This does not surprise me at all, I spoke to a couple of the Irish players the other week and they said that no one any good wants the job! and that most think the selection panel are a joke!

I'm sure he would love to manage Ireland, but like Souness, didn't want to be interviewed for the job cos he's far too important for that kind of common behaviour. Never underestimate the power of the ego

Or maybe he and Souness both know that Terry Vegetables is going to get the job anyway. God preserve us.

Both Souness and O'Leary would be awful choices. Venables is streets ahead of these two imho

According to some reports, it looks like the dream team approached O'Leary to see if he was interested. I had thought it was supposed to be the other way around, i.e. if a manager was interested in the job, he had to approach the 3 wise men?

I think they are approaching people- Hodgson stated a month or two ago that he had never approached a job, they had always come to him, and he didn't intend to change that, and yet he was talked to about the Ireland job.

So that tells me they are approaching candidates.

I'd have been furious if the Dons didn't actually approach people. I thought it was to work both ways.

What are you basinhg that on? Venables took the same squad O'Leary had never been out of the top 5 with and would have had them relegated had he not been sacked that March. Seems clear cut to me.
