although the second part, if true, is baffling
That would make the squad something like this:

    Given
    Westwood

    O'Shea
    Clark
    Coleman
    Dunne
    St Ledger
    S Kelly
    O'Dea

    Wilson
    Gibson
    Whelan
    Green
    Lawrence
    Treacy
    Duff
    McCarthy

    Keane
    Walters
    Doyle
    Long
    Best

Wait until you see the uproar for Stokes/Fahey/McGeady getting dropped, no-one is ever happy despite the fact you can only start 11 players. Get over it lads, you're not the manager so your indignation is wasted.

Mcgeady in pre-season, Trap doesn't rate the SPL and I cant think of any logical reason why Fahey isn't picked

Fahey has being starting lately for Birmingham and saved our asses against Armenia, so it's an odd choice to exclude him and include the likes of Green who has been poor for Derby of late.

ah, Birmingham playing on Sunday as well, might be the same reason for demoting Stokes
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

Fahey instead of Green (fckin hell, still?!) and Ward in as a defender and i would be realtively happy with that squad, truth be told. Performance is still everything however.

    Where's Foley?

Mentioned somewhere he's injured but he appears to be available for Wolves tonight...

Can anyone confirm that the Wales match is viewed as a friendly as opposed to a competative game that would ultimately tie McCarthy to Ireland. Not that I envisage him ever changing sides. Just curious.

Apologies if this is discussed elsewhere already.

As long as Green doesn't play that squad looks fine. Fahey should be ahead of him. Not too bad though.

We can't discuss team/squad selections and offer opinions with others? I didn't realise, I'll go cancel my foot.ie membership.

Looks like Trap's looking at McCarthy as a wide midfielder rather than central.

Agreed. Fahey ain't no world-beater but he's surely a Green-beater. Healthy enough looking squad anyway.

I was referring to the indignation in this and another thread calling for Traps head fo omitting McCarthy. Surely you can see the difference between that and normal discussion.

People used to say similar stuff about Roy Keane. He wasn't Messi but his mere presence on the pitch and continuously doing the simple stuff brilliantly meant that he was missed when not there. I'm not sure a modern pundit would appreciate Roy Keane. Not flash enough.

Just glad he picked Jamie. Let's focus on that bit of good news.
