    McCarthy's involvement seems like a bit of a long shot - http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-35719573.html

(Also mentions Clark is out for eight weeks).

Has withdrawn from the squad according to Balls.ie.

Can't find mention of it elsewhere.

Balls referenced this Daily Mail piece, which suggests he might be leaving Everton - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-McCarthy.html

The part about him pulling out of the Ireland squad seems legit unfortunately, as they have quoted Koeman directly

In my opinion that is a really good decision he needs to recover and get ready for pre-season.
Edit - same thing confirmed on Everton website - http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2017/0...ccarthy-future

Things are looking bright enough at Everton and they placed well this year so James might have more of a chance of winning trophies. But I can't help but think playing with one of the clubs mentioned in that article would lead to James going up a level in his performances for us.

WBA are a solid club. I have a real positive feeling about how this current iteration of Newcastle is going to progress. I think that they could push into the top half quite quickly under Rafa and with financial backing. I wouldn't complain if he went there at all.

According to the Daily Mail, Burnley are now interested in signing McCarthy as part of a deal that might see Michael Keane move to Everton: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...t-Abraham.html

not involved tonight. Hopefuly means he is getting out of there. Everyone r going nowhere with their new signings can't see them finishing as high as last season and they were awful against the big sides last year

That would be a fantastic move. Everyone is a real hole. Even the way they handling the whole Barkley issue shows total lack of class

    <MOD EDIT - REMOVED>

Under normal circumstances I would say that Everton is a far more stable environment for a player, but Newcastle could be a good fit right now. He'd have a much better chance of starting and he would seem like a Benitez type (i.e. conservative, tactical, professional, safe). They could be good for each other.

    Personal insults?? Seriously!

How is suggesting a Liverpool fan might have a bit of a biased dislike for Everton a personal insult?

The comments are juvenile and irrational in my opinion.

As for their "awful" results against the big teams last season... they were undefeated in the four games against the Manchester clubs, three draws and a 4-0 win over Man City. They also beat Arsenal and drew with Spurs.

Some poor results also but that's to be expected against teams that are better than you are.

Is this a post about James McCarthy???
Would really love to see him get sorted quickly.
He needs to be up and running at a new club in the next week, I would think, in order to hold out hope of starting on the first day of the season.
And if it drags on and on without him playing first team football, he'll likely be out of the running for both qualifiers in September.

Agree to me he is the player who let's us have some element of control in games which I never think we have without him. Hope he gets a move anywhere in a top league. Koeman has handled him very badly and acted in a very unprofessional manner not becoming of a mid-sized club like everton
