it's hardly a recent phenomenon of top footballers being reluctant to play in that area of that country unless they are being paid over the odds.

So if you're married, you don't think you should take your wife's view in to consideration as to where you should both live and you're "soft" if you do. Stone age stuff. I can perfectly understand many players' partners not wanting to move to Sunderland and strangely enough, as a husband, you should take your wife's view on board.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

He is bang out of order in my view. Its up to a person to run their own life and if they have a marriage where the woman has an equal say where they bring up kids or where they want to live thats the guys business. Keane is only having a rant because people dont want to go to Sunderland. There is more to life than football if you are not happy like Kieron Dyer and Scott Parker were not happy up in the North well then they wont do the business on the pitch. So its best taht they dont go up there in the first place.

Maybe he should just ring Dion Fanning. He will move up to Sunderland move in to Roy Keans hole.

Wonder what Roy thinks about footballers' wives using their husband's fame to appear in adverts for, I don't know, washing powder Insulting their husband in an ad, no less. If a weak player can't control his woman then he'll probably turn out to be a weak chairman with no control over his manager...

Football must be your priority. What's your priority - your wife and her shopping or your football? Or money
Coming from the man who refused to sign a contract with Utd a few years ago until they paid him £80,000-a-week and citied the fact that "he had a family to feed" as his reason. Oh, the hypocrisy.

He has a cheek criticising other players.

Players demand more money, United wouldnt have got to where the are now without Keane, he had every right to earn the same amount as Becks and all the rest of them

I was always disappointed that Roy Keane didn't take the opportunity to move to Italy, as Brady did (at least Robbie gave it a go even if circumstances with the manager didn't work out for him). Nice to hear that it wasn't concern about moving his family that stopped him and money was a more likely factor. That's the mark of a BIG MAN.

Load of ****e from Keane. If a player wants to listen to their wife and they are in a relationship that is fifty fifty and they discuss things well thats their business. Just cause Keane has old fashioned values, eye for an eye and womans place is in the home and thats sort of stuff does not mean the rest of the world has not moved on.

If one actually reads the interview he does not supply any facts and the player in question did not ring back, so how did he know it was about the shopping. Secondly he does say that when a player says they have to consult the wife it shows a weekness. Well sorry I think ifyou are going to make a major decision about where you live you should always consult your wife or girlfriend.

I agree that there are a few poncy guys hanging about the Premiership nowadays and would you really want them in a battle but that is another issue. To me it sounds like a rant because a few players did not sign for Sunderland it seems the only people who are willing the sign for them Irish players and ex Manchester Utd players and Michael Chopra. #

This coming from the guy who called Bohs Fans scumbags for singing a few songs and booing him. He is trying to do a Brian Clough on it but he lacks the humour and intelligence of that great man.

Yeah cos you know them all personally......Automatically believing what you read in magazines and newspapers isnt the brightest thing to do bellavistaman.

Il take a guess and say you're not married and unlikely to be with that attitude.I pity your (possible) future wife if you really believe that your partners opinion shouldnt come in to whether you move house or not.

agreed with most of the post up to here though it was a fair shout, but some of his press conferences have been very humourous, i think hes trying to be his own style, the media keep refering back to clough and ferguson which is grant but not in every article.

Thought the press conference after the win the weekend was brilliant when the press asked, "you dont look too happy roy,"
he replied with "im possibly the happiest man in the building but im not going to go mad, what do you want me to do just on the table and dance, strip?"

Or when he said he might go mad when when he goes home he'll "have some green tea and a few you know chocolate"

First weekend and greating great stuff from him.

to be fair its different for all of us. we work for our families so on, but the footballers have 15 years max to have the best career they can. Most of us dont even have the input to if where we move!

And most of their marraiges are shoddy things that end early, big divorce, paper scandal big stereotype there but you know what i mean.

I think he is enjoying the Clough comparisions and he has used Forest and Clough as a comparision to Sunderland a few times. He has mentioned Ferguson far less which is fair enough as he is now an opposition manager.

In fairness none of the players he's talking about are going to have a problem with living on what they earn in the next 15 years...even if they did its a decision most married couples would make together taking all of that into consideration.

Most? How many players are there in the premiership alone? Over 500? How many marriages exactly have been big early divorces with paper scandals?

Again you take far too much notice of the papers...Where the 5or so lads they follow around seem the be all and end all.

Is it just me who thinks he wants to "justify" to the Sunderland fans why players wouldn't move to the club? Its sounds better than saying the players didn't move there as they thought they could find a better club.

Rather than ranting against WAGs, he's trying to say something to placate his fans - this is a way to do it.

Similar to Quinn ranting about foreign biscuit-makers pushing up wages by offering over the odds for mediocre players Not nearly as noble as foreign pub landlords doing the same thing...

Sky News milking this for every bit. Talking about it a fair bit today. Even had Miss. Sunderland talking about why people wouldn't want to move to there.

    Slow news day obviously.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
