I'd agree with that, he looked solid in possession, but definitely needed to lose at least a stone.
got the assist for the goal, or at least delivered the ball that led to the confusion that finished with the goal.

He needs to go somewhere that he will play regularly. It does not matter if it is Luton--He needs to show he can play then things will take care of themselves.

It was a joke based on a common misspelling in your post. If you can't take a joke that innocent, Foot.ie might not be the place for you.

Is the clear out of the reserves more for financial reasons than footballing reasons?

West Ham aren't exactly flush with cash, but I'd say if they felt that Dixon (or any of the other guys that were released) were going to push through to the first team, I doubt they would have let them go. It really can't be that expensive having someone like Dixon on the books relative to the salaries that are being paid to fringe first team players. It's a setback for Dixon no doubt, but at least his injury record has been relatively clean all season, so someone is much more likely to take a punt on him.

I forgot to mention that Boleyn67 said he was being released for what basically amounts to 'Personal Reasons', so in his case, who knows the real reason that they've let him go?

I was a little surprised that the Hammers took him on at all. The general consensus was that he was a crock. Maybe starting off from a lower level is what he needs.

Given his reputation before his injuries, why not take a punt? He was probably paid a nominal fee, and he had the potential to be a very good player for them if he could make a full recovery.

Ultimately, it hasn't worked out, they've probably not paid him much, and no harm done. I think it was a gamble worth taking, and hopefully the rehab will now given Dixon a solid base to find a new club.

Sadly it would appear as though his career is over. Does anyone know if he's even been on trial with any teams at all?

You'd think a lower league team would have a pop given his reputation, maybe with the financial problems a lot of clubs are experiencing they're less willing to take a gamble.

Going to a Premier League club was always going to be tough for him in terms of trying to make the grade, but in terms of the facilities it was probably the best place for his physical recovery.

Surely there would be some professional team in Britain willing to take him on though.

It would be very sad if this was the end for Terry. I have often thought that we have been very, very unlucky over the years with players getting serious injuries and never reaching their potential. Colin Healy and Richard Sadlier are two that come to mind and Ireland would certainly have been a stronger team with their inclusion.

Gary Waddock might be the more optimistic case to consider. He was forced by QPR and the insurance company to retire from the game at 24 due to a medial ligament injury. He bought an exercise bike, got himself fit, and made a comeback in Belgium before ultimately joining Millwall. He won his way back into the ireland squad for Italia 90 but then Jack decided to bring Alan McLoughlin instead. Gary ended up playing until he was 36 with Luton.

    Don't give up yet Terry!

Well begorra and begosh, this one slipped under the radar. Was looking into how Jay O'Shea got on at the weekend and found this.

A final throw of the dice came as Dixon replaced the hard working Ben May.

Cheers, great news there for the lad. I've added him back with the new player id: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Play...playerID=57761

    According to this - http://fcboro.co.uk/squad-list/attackers/terry-dixon/ - he's with Stevenage on a non-contract basis

Signed him in my Football Manager 11 game where I'm only buying Irish lads. Was wondering did he get a club in real life yet.

Stevenage 1-0 up at h/t. O'Shea has had two shots, neither on target.
