I think you'll find "the North" (aka The Union) won the ones that counted, despite the claims of their Rebel adversaries - www.south-will-rise-again.com

You'll have to get over it some time. You're from the north of Ireland to most of us.

    Tell it to Donegal*.

(* - Well, it is the most northerly part of the Free State, isn't it?)

    Ealing Green Says NO!

    JEZEBEL!

    U L S T E R is the name!

No wait - only six of the nine counties are in Ulster.

    Erm

    N O R T H E R N I R E L A N D is the name!

    Erm

No wait - the Northern most part of Ireland is Donegal

    Um,

    The erm - S I X C O U N T I E S!

    Erm

    Sounds too republican. Hmmm.

    The - S I X M O S T N O R T H - E A S T E R L Y C O U N T I E S O F U L S T E R!

    Too long winded.

Ahhh hell, the North it is .

No this is a big thing getting back above Northern Ireland , according to ourfakecountry they are our main rival . They seem to get us confused with Mexico as well on that comic also.
Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.

Not sure what his day job is, but writes an article for the 'Northern version' of the Daily Mirror on a Tuesday. Darren thinks Darron Gibson and the other Northern lads playing for Ireland are all a version of the Anti-Christ.

He’s a bit like Ealing green, obsessed with us rather than his own team. (Don’t take it to heart Ealing, just a bit of Belfast banter!)

From yesterday’s contribution “ When your holding out on Stephen Ireland, Anthony Stokes, Paul McShane, Stephen Quinn, Stephen Hunt & Shane Long as some form of golden generation, you truly are clutching at shillelaghs”

Personally, I think most of those named above (and others) have potentially, a great future (once Stan goes) and with most of them playing regular premiership football I would be a hell of a lot more confident than Darren Fullerton's teams' future success, most of whom play in the lower divisions and with the few premiership players in the squad, like Davis & Hughes lucky to make the Villa Subs bench on a weekly basis, I think they will be lucky to see to many more seasons of top flight football.

Leaving aside the shillelagh remark, Darren & Jackie need to be retired and a less partisan attitude adopted by (some) within the media in the north who realise that a big proportion of ‘us’ support Ireland.

Finally, Just to update Darren’s quote from his article yesterday “Today? Ireland are ranked 49th – lower than Uzbekistan, Ghana, Tunisia, Mali Cuba & Iran.

Well, Darren O’ Fullerton, begorrah, just to update you on today’s rankings –

All of us Belfast/Derry/Newry/Lurgan/Enniskillen/Omagh/Downpatrick/Portadown/Armagh/Coleraine boys are ranked 46th & the North are ranked 49th, so while we are both still ranked below, Ghana, Tunisia, Mali, Chile & Iran, at least we have both moved above Cuba & Uzbekistan.

What a success for football in Ireland !!!!

Perhaps we could have a 68 page discussion over on 'Are We A Country' about the pro's and con's of the potential of Uzbekistasn.

Well, I suppose you got there in the end!

No big thing getting back above NI - if you were allowed to play San Marino every match, that is!

And as for our "confusion" over Mexico, I think you'll find this is a reference to "South of the Border", a song written by Ulsterman Jimmy Kennedy. Although ostensibly a love song about an American who enjoys a brief flirtation with a Senorita down South, in reality, it is an Allegory of the dangers which can follow for a World Superpower should it get embroiled in the affairs of a Third World neighbour... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_o...der_(1939_song)

South of the border, down Mexico way
That's where they fell in love
    When stars above
    Came out to play
And now as they wander, their thoughts ever stray
South of the border, down Mexico way

She was a picture in old Spanish lace
    Just for a tender while
    He kissed the smile
    Upon her face
For it was "Fiesta" and they were so gay
South of the border, down Mexico way

Then she sighed as she whispered "mañana"
Never dreaming that they were parting
And he lied as he whispered "mañana"
    For that tomorrow never came

South of the border, he rode back one day
There in a veil of white
    By candlelight
    She knelt to pray
The mission bells told him that he mustn't stay
South of the border, down Mexico way

    Ay-ay-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay
    Ay-ay-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay

"He lied as he whispered Manana" - What a Bast ard, eh?

was ulsterman jimmy kenneddy from northern ireland or donegal monaghan or cavan now? NI fans are fond of chanting "ulster" at games in barbara windsor park. they must be confused as to the actual identity of ulster which is a province in ireland and not some invented non-state.

    identity crisis bombs away.

All six counties of Northern Ireland are within the Province of Ulster - therefore it is wholly appropriate to chant "Ulster" at Northern Ireland games -our Donegal born supporters like it too.

"Northern Ireland" can be a bit of a mouthful for some chants - you'll understand that point, given that ROI fans like to shorten things to "Ireland" -incidently, a not uncommon chant amongst Northern Ireland fans right up to the 1970's.
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

We're not Brazil, we're Stan Stefano.

Why have Southern Ireland had delayed starts recently? Because no-one starts playing until five-to.

Don't forget, keep us informed of any good young prospects born in the North. The declaration door is always open.

Unless you replace Stan ASAP, you might as well replace "have fallen" with "continue to fall".

As for the rest, people can "declare" all they like, but until FIFA determines, neither you nor I knows who's eligible and who's not.

(Anyhow, why only the "good" young prospects? If your present state of play is anything to go by, you should be glad of any of our cast-offs! )
