I think also they are going to start holding concerts there, Marlay park wont be holding anymore so I think the SDCC want to get them in Tallaght
    Here on a technicality.

Rovers have sold out about 3 times this year. They couldn't argue they need it on those terms (and thats no knocking Rovers as obviously their crowds are way bigger than the rest of us).

The council are about to have their budget halved so they won't be taking risks for a while.

Candystripe, is there any chat about plans for developing behind the goals at any time?

    Not a hope.

I'm surprised the Lone Moor Rd stand development has been announced. Clearly its one of the last projects approved under existing budgets before the public spending cuts kick in.

We are also unlikely to need the capacity anytime soon.

As ORA says no chance of anything being built behind the goal ends.

I'm actually still not believing this will even go ahead!
So if you think Bohs are big read this. http://www.astronomy.ie/perpespective.html

I think they've taken the right approach to building a stadium. Stands on the lengths of the pitch should have a seating capacity of in and around 3,000 at least in the Premier. If a club like Shamrock are developing and getting the crowds in, then is the time to look at building stands behind the goal ends.

AFAIK, all the stadia have to be passed by health and safety and an engineer's inspection before a license is awarded

I would have presumed that the safety of the Carlisle Grounds was passed in the club licensing, and again when they rebuilt the wall it would have required tests by the FAI. All parties involved really need to sit down now and come up with a new plan in relation to the perimeter of the pitch. Bray/Wicklow Town council also need to get involved at this stage, the club have tried to do things the right way for long enough without any help what so ever from them, they need to step up to the plate and start helping the club and provide facilities that the people of Bray and Wicklow deserve.

At the end of the day mate, we're talking about a tiny wall falling over here. Not a roof caving in or anything.... Might take a couple of weeks to build a new one. No big deal.

Whats the story with Harps stadium?

Also I remember hearing a while back Bray were going to build a roof over the stand (dart side). Whats the story with this? Its badly needed!

Are shels playing in Tolka again next year?

Salthill's new stand getting the go ahead? (Or was that Mervue?.. Don't even know the difference)

Harps are ready to begin construction in earnest as soon as the last of the red tape is cleared. Hopefully that will be very soon.

That's what they said the last time. Turned out to be nearly a big deal again.

Managed to find an old drawing of the Tallaght Stadium plan (1999). Will the new Square End stand (if it goes ahead at all) connect with the current stands,, would be nice to finally have an Irish stadium with a sense of continuity.

There is no new stand for the foreseeable future. Nothing announced and no money so don't hold your breath.

Won't be happening for a while I'm afraid. The club don't have the money to complete the work, so they aren't going to start it.

There was talk about parts of the ground being sold and the buyer (a supermarket iirc) would pay for a cover over the exposed stand and a small seated stand behind the goal at the south (bowling alley) end - a stand with seats bolted into the ground, rather than the 'tent' style. But the stuttering economy seems to have put any plans on hold.

I expect a new wall to be in place for next season, anything beyond that will depend on finances so barring a decent sized grant from the council (who we lease the ground off) I wouldn't be expecting much else.

If the ground is leased off the council how can the club be gauranteed that the ground would benefit from parts of it being sold off?
