I can't understand clubs settling for half a stadium. They all end up regretting it afterwards.

Very little choice for Cork but to now to settle for half a stadium. That's all that's left.

God, I really hope it's insured! A storm blowing the roof off the stand nearly bankrupt Stoke in the '80s. The hit to attendances from losing an entire stand is going to really affect the club in either case

Could be wrong, but I'd say this isn't covered by insurance. It'll go down as an 'act of god'.

The damage at the Cross is to the Derrynane Road Stand, which is actually the lowest of the four stands.
For anyone unfamiliar with the venue, this is the stand opposite the main Donie Forde Stand.
At least half of the stand seems to have collapsed, meaninghealth and safety will surely rule out the entire stand in case of potential further structural damage for (at least) our last two games of the season.
Not even sure at this point if it's feasible to play our two remaining games at the Cross with just the Derrynane out of bounds.
As you know, the MFA are in charge of the ground not CCFC; God knows when it will be eventually sorted!

The loss is likely to impact on the club's revenue in a big way in 2018 unless there is rapid action undertaken to repair the damage when the season ends.

I don't know - the capacity of the rest of the ground is over 6000, which would still be enough to accommodate most City games - besides, 24 hours later, the badly damaged part has been taken away and 3/4 of it seems to be intact, which means it'll probably be a matter of inspecting and, at most some reinforcement. If not, just take down the rest of the roof and let it be an uncovered stand for next year.

Capacity is down to about 5,700 without Derrynane I believe.

By the way, well done to the MFA for getting Turner Cross ready for the game last night. Incredible achievement to stage a match so soon after so much damage.

We apparently had an offer of Musgrave Park from Munster Rugby if we needed it, which was a really nice touch.

Why is the opening capacity at the revamped Brandywell so low ? (3700) There are surely plans to increase the capacity above that? If Derry are challenging for title, big cup/European games they'd get double that figure in the gate.

That's the seating capacity I think. There's going to be space either side of the new stand for terracing as I understand it to take capacity to around 4,200

In fairness clubs don't have a choice. You ave to lay the hand you've been dealt. You could say that ye have settled for a few foundations for the last 4 years.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Honestly, prefer having it dragged out and getting an entire stadium done rather than settling for a Lissywollen job or the colourful wind tunnel in Tallaght.

I've nothing against Tallaght. It's a cracking stadium with probably the best facilities in the league within what's there, but it's half finished.

I had understood that it was being built on the mountains end.The atmosphere
In the big games down the shopping centre end should be brilliant.
In fairness to SDCC they really get what a top class sports facility can do for a community.Hopefully Dublin City Council can learn from them.

It is being built down the car park (south) end. Should be done for the start of next season as well.
