He doesn't look fit to me. Bingo wings going on under the hoody. Hanging out with Andy Reid.

Goal and an assist today V Norwich.
    Hoolahan started on the bench.
Gibson and O'Shea started on bench for Sunderland. All came on.

Great goal, similar to one or two of his strikes for Preston last season. Great assist too (1:46 & 2:32 below)

Created a goal last night against Wednesday (what Westwood was doing out trying to close him down on the right hand edge of the box I have no idea) and put in a few other good crosses. Apparently after his poor loan spell at Wednesday he was thinking of retiring.

O'Shea on the bench and Gibson came on as a late substitute.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

He discusses all of this in the interviews with Simon Ferry on the previous page. The Sheffield Wednesday stuff is in Vol. 5 (Post 4340).

With Walters out I would expect mcgeady to play both games in the qualifiers

Great goal. I knew Sunderland weren't going too well but didn't realise quite how badly. In the relegation places now. No win in eight games and only one win in ten altogether. Grayson and McGeady return to high flying Preston on Saturday, with the former's job surely on the line. The grass isn't always greener!

there's a conversation in the daryl murphy thread saying how some of us think he will come in for walters i have often thought that if playing both walters and long it would make more sense to be to have long out wide and walters up top, but o'neill sees it differently most of the time...

Don't think o Neill trusts long defensively in that wide role and to be fair when u see how Walters ballsed it up by letting kolarev run for the goal against Serbia you can see what a tough time it is for a frontman playing that wide role

Not sure what else Walters could have done. He tracked his man, he was just outpaced by a much quicker player.

The awareness and execution of the pass from Kostic was top class.

ah no fair enough it was perfect from Serbia but Walters could have done better if he gets across there it's a nothing chance and we don't even notice it and Walters has done that so often for us with his tireless workrate

Walters wasn't 100% fit in those games. It's a demanding job he's given so a big ask for him in those games

True but if that was mcgeady who didn't step across and let kolarev strike it so sweetly I think there would have been much more finger pointing definitely amongst the lads who sit around me and seem hypersensitive to mcgeady errors for as long as I can remember

There is absolutely a large element who bemoan every single thing McGeady does wrong. There's always players like that. No matter how well Gary Breen played he was called a donkey. No matter if David Connolly scored or assisted he was still muck.

Walters is a grafter and a mullicker who gives 100%. Irish crowds love that.
McGeady always tries a trick and it doesn't always work for him. Irish crowds hate that.

Walters has done more with his limited skill-set than McGeady has it must be said

yeah we get what we deserve. if we have any chance of beating Wales we need to trust mcgeady so I'm kinda glad Walters is out cause otherwise he would be definitely right side against Moldova and Wales and we would play accordingly as in batter and bruise and forget any guile

Fair enough, but I think you're underestimating how quick Kolarov is. Walters was in the right position and did the best his body would allow - the cause of the goal was how three defenders all went with the same man (and didn't stop him getting the pass away).
