    Good enough for Elite League?

There has been a lot of talk here of getting "promoted" since the arrival of Rafael Cretaro last week. So I was just wondering, do we think we would be able to compete at that level, IF we got there, or would we struggle against the majority of fully professional teams that would no doubt be involved? And if so, what would need to happen to make us successful?

Well IMO the squad is now good enough to get promoted. However whether it is good enough to be in the elite league is another matter. You have to realise though if we were promoted the squad would be strenghtened. So i think we should worry about getting there 1st.

I realise it would be strengthened but could we ever compete on a part-time basis?

Well with the way the club is progressing both on and off the field it wouldn't surprise me if in a few years(providing we're competing in the elite league and established ourselves there) that we would become professional.

There was talk of getting promoted long before the arrival of Cretaro. Its a year where we all know that a good performance (week in, week out) on the pitch is vital this year and the only way for our club to continue the way it is, is to get promoted.

Every club that gets promoted is not expected to be challenging in the first year up. Its about survival in the first year and after that to start moving up the table. Our squad, if they gel well together has the potential to do that, along with the extra arrivals that would come naturally with this progression.

Lads, dont mean to dampen the mood but ye have to win the league first and i wouldnt be too confident about that.yes ye have a good team, but considering the team we had last season and we only won by a few points,it wont be as easy as ye think.

Have to say yer own team werent that great either! Consider how poor of a team we were last season, we still werent far of it in the end since we still had a mathematical chance of going up until nearly the last few weeks of the season. Our team is now a different looking team from 12 months ago, and we are getting better with every game we play.

The longford match might show us the starting eleven that Lal has in mind for the coming season, and should be a good match.
