Not that too many of you young people will remember, but Mike Walsh of Everton was IMO the Joe Lapira of his day.Nearly decapitated an Icelandic player once. WON 4 caps and 4 caps too many.

Yes, I thought it might be McLoughlin. Is the big lad Richard Dunne ?

I remember Mike Walsh but I think you are being a bit harsh there. He was a regular at Bolton for a number of years, some of them in the top flight, before signing for Everton under Howard Kendall and it was only then he became aware he was eligible, otherwise I think he would have more caps. Everton were in a transition and Kendall was signing hosts of players so Walsh lost his place, never played regularly in the first division after that and his call up for us came at a time we had stronger defensive options than probably any time. I do remember the karate kick though

one cap wonders and the nearly men sounds like the name of a bad Mike & The Machanics cover band.
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

I give up. Who is it? Gareth Farrelly ?

Until I saw your squad, I thought Alan Moore was Stephen Elliott.
