    Wexford FC v UCD

Ferrycarrig seems to be the place for goals this season but unfortunately the Wexford defence are just that bit too generous and it proved to be the difference again this evening as UCD deservedly secured the three points. Wexford started with Owen, Ben, Cian, Ethan, Mikie, Kian, Thomas, Mark, Luka, James and Reece. Wexford started the brighter and Thomas Oluwa had two half-chances for Wexford early on including a header which Moore grabbed in the UCD goal. On 13 minutes, UCD won a corner and Holohan was able to run unimpeded to the near post for a free header and UCD were a goal ahead. On 14 minutes, James Crawford limped off and was replaced by Wexford’s Kaylem Harnett. UCD then conceded a similar goal to the first of the game on 21 minutes when Wexford's Cian O’Malley got free at UCD’s near post for another headed goal and it was 1-1. Four minutes later, UCD’s Jake Doyle got two free touches while unopposed in the Wexford area – the first to keep the ball in the air and the second to cushion it past Owen Mason in the Wexford goal and it was 2-1. UCD finished the half with two shots on the Wexford goal both of which were not kept on target and it was 2-1 to UCD at halftime.

After about 10 minutes of the second half, Darragh Levingstone came on for Wexford and Wexford came close to getting a second equaliser when the ball was just cleared off the UCD goal-line for a Wexford corner and the resulting corner was headed just wide by a Wexford attacker. After Owen Mason made two good saves to keep UCD from adding to their lead, Wexford conceded again with another poor concession when a not very well hit low corner by UCD to Wexford’s near post was met first by a UCD player and the ball was eventually forced home by UCD sub Adam Verdon for 3-1 to UCD. Owen Mason in the Wexford goal then continued his good night by making two further saves from two UCD one-on-ones but he’s such a big unit that he really doesn’t give you much of the goal to aim at. As the game entered injury time, Wexford got a second goal back when a parsimonious UCD defence eventually coughed up a chance for Wexford sub, Cian Curtis, to volley home. 3-2 to UCD. In the last minute or two, Cian Curtis had a half-chance and Wexford got the ball into the UCD net but the ref disallowed it for a foul on Moore in the UCD goal. 3-2 to UCD at fulltime. Wexford just need to cut down the space given to attackers in their own area. Crowd was believed to be 729.
