They're proactively reaching out left right and centre, be assured. Which is easily and not to be confused with hopelessly scrambling & bumping into each other like clowns. While lying & covering their own asses.

How tone deaf is it, when they see fit to send out a guy to use that kind of phraseology, at this juncture, to a fanbase, public and even government, who have had it up to here with exactly that nonsense from Canham & co ?

I'd say he didn't even realise he was spouting such waffle. It's endemic within a certain type of manager these days.

It is, but these lads are supposed to get a football manager to come work for them at some stage. Football, not corporate laddering. Do the managers hear this & back off ? I dunno, my spoofer radar goes nuclear soon as I hear it anyway.

Why not? He has managed at a high level, his sides play decent football and we're not exactly overloaded with interest right now. Who is available that's willing and better?

Because I dont rate him as a manager. I think Steve Bruce for example is a better manager and I dont want him either
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Claudio Ranieri has retired from club management, saying he "could take an international job if it appealed to him"

Will be 73 in October; Trap was 74 when he left the Ireland job.

By it appealling to him I'd say he's looking at a set up like Trap. Let me show up when there's a game but in-between I'm chilling at home in Italy.

I don't know if Ranieri is that type of person. He seems to be the type that would like going to games etc.

    Too old
Any manager will demand a 4 year contract
So they have a real chance at euro qualification.

let's not forget his disastrous if short-lived spell in charge of Greece back in 2014. from wiki:

Compared to their previous stability under Otto Rehhagel and Santos, Ranieri often changed line-ups and formations, confusing the players; moreover, he did not live in Greece. He was dismissed on 15 November 2014, the day after a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying 1–0 defeat at home against the Faroe Islands. He received €800,000 in compensation for his termination.

He reflected in a 2015 interview with the Leicester Mercury:

"I made a mistake when I was manager of Greece. I wanted to look because it is a different job at a club to a national team. I had four matches and for each game I trained the players for just three days. That is 12 days of training. What can I do in just 12 days? I had to rebuild a national team in just 12 days. What could I do? I am not a magician."

The Irish public look to have given their verdict on John O'Shea tonight.

There's a lot of hedges being trimmed and lawns being cut around the country.

Interesting to see Wales becoming part of a very small club tonight - teams that failed to score in a game against Gibraltar. Wasn't that long ago they were being put up on a pedestal as a team we should aspire to in terms of how they bring in young players etc. But their post Bale and Ramsay generation is coming to nothing under Rob Page, who is looking a very poor manager now with Bale gone and Ramsay way past his best.

A good example as to why an inexperienced manager who is little more than a yes man for the association is something we really need to avoid with this appointment.

That's maybe a little bit harsh, no?

Took four points off Croatia in Euro qualifying, then hammered a vaguely decent Finland 4-1 in the Euro playoffs and lost to Poland on penalties then in a fairly tight game. 9 games unbeaten and yeah, drawing against Gibraltar is a bad result (I don't know does a touch of June-itis come in?) but the other results were all ones in that run were reasonable results.

Stephen Kenny wouldn't be looking too good compared to that ? !

FAI working off a five-man shortlist, mostly the same names they've been considering the past half year - Sagnol, Bilic, Hughton, Hudson and O'Shea.

Think I'd chance Bilic from that list. None of the rest inspire a lot of confidence.
