Surprised Charles Kennedy's passing wasn't noticed. I always felt bad for him as the London meeja went to town on him over his drinking problem and it really was ott. A young man too, only mid-50's.

I often wonder how much composers get when their tune/song is played. Did 10 cent or some such amount always wing its way to Mr. Last whenever the Sunday Game was aired?

This has not been a good year. Christopher Lee is the next absolute legend to pass on.

Sounds terrible, but I thought he was already dead. One of the real legends of horror movies. And apparently a good sort.

An absolute legend of the film music has now left us, James Horner. Most famous for his music in Braveheart, Titanic and Avatar among many other great pieces. Massive loss to the industry. As someone who appreciates that kind of musical genre, its a sad day.

Michelle Watt, daughter of ex-boxer Jim Watt, has passed away at the young age of 38.

Some of our elder statesmen may remember how World Champion Jim Watt blatantly cheated to beat a 21 year old Sean O'Grady back in 1980 by headbutting him; he went on to win by TKO due to this fact.

His youngest son died in a car crash in 1995..

    Sad news.
I won a cubs fancy dress competition as Steed one time. Had the bowler, the blade in the umbrella and all!
He'd a wee cameo in Spinal Tap too, as Denis Eton-Hogg, owner of the record label.

And how he avoided a showdown with Charlie Nash before thumbing and headbutting him to defeat in Glasgow.

His daughter had made a career in her own right http://www.heatworld.com/2015/06/60-...d-dead-aged-38

I don't remember the Sean O'Grady incident but Watt is now one of Sky's leading boxing commentators.

People wouldn't believe it now that a middle-aged Irish guy with a guitar and wearing an aran sweater could have commanded prime time on BBC on a Saturday evening for many years. My mother was particularly proud of him because he was from Waterford. Wherever you are now, Val, walk tall.
