Do you think? I didn't like the D4 accent (even the way he said Tay-nee) I have to say but definitely one of the best known DJs of his generation. Sad news indeed.

    Terry Pratchett too.

Knew he had Alzheimers obviously, but wasn't expecting this.

Gosh that's sad news. What a day... I feel my youth evaporating!

Very poignant last tweets on his Twitter page.
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

Really enjoyed his books, Small Gods and Good Omens were particular highlights. His documentary on assisted dying was one of the most powerful pieces of TV I have ever seen.

George Byrne passed on today. Always liked his movie reviews with fellow LOI fan Tom Dunne. Another LOI media man gone.

I meant to post this at the time, but was lazy. This is the Holmes and Watson statue outside the British Embassy in Moscow. I pass it every morning on the way to work. Then one morning saw this, took and photo and walked on. A couple of bookshops in Moscow held special readings in his honour.

James Best who played Sheriff Rosco P Coltrane in the Dukes of Hazard. Tough early childhood with his mum dying at an early age and he was put up for adoption by his dad who struggled to support the family.

One of the reasons why many people (including myself), picked up poker during its high times in the late 1990s to mid 2000s. A true character of the game, will be missed.

Yes, one of my favourite sports' commentators. To be fair, most of Sky's cricket commentators are excellent but Benaud certainly lead the way for decades on the BBC.

Richie Benaud seems to have been universally accepted as a nice man. Not a bad legacy.

East Terracer posted this elsewhere, but Ray Treacy passed on yesterday. Sad to lose a real stalwart of Irish football. Saw him play many times and had a number of dealings with him, always a gent. One very funny incident years ago when I was dealing with him in relation to Malta. He had a heap of hilarious stories about the place. Only 68 too.

    Rough week for Rovers.
