Now that that Unpleasantness is over.

    So, safe for another year.

What’s people’s opinions on who to keep?

    Signed:

    Brendan Clarke
    Freddy Hall
    Tony Whitehead

    So they’re fair enough.

    Defence

    Keep:

Dave O’Connor – He is the worst left back in the world. He is also a perfectly serviceable, mediocre left sided centre half. Talk is McDonald is going three at the back. If so he has done enough for another go in the squad imo.

Shane Tracy – I’d have him around forever. Realistically I’d say he’s gone.

Dean Clarke – Not a right back. It looks like shamrock broke him really badly. Would keep for another year. Not sure why.

    Cut:

Barry Cotter – Really, really, terrible at being a right back. Would argue that you could maybe make some class of a winger out of him but if the rumors about his behavior from my ever reliable sauces are true he should be dropkicked out the door.

Killian Brouder – What’s the point??

    Midfield

    Keep:

Bastien Hery – I don’t care if he has only turned it on in contract season, I want him kept. Untouchable on his day in this league.

Lee Jay – Puts in the effort of seven men. Keep.

Duggie – Found his mojo again in recent weeks. Assuming he still wants to play football I’d keep.

    Cut:

Stephen Kenny – Not good enough. Doesn’t try. Destined to be a big wheel at Cobh Ramblers.

Henry Cameron – Looks broken beyond repair.

    Attack:

    Keep:

Dozie – Keep. Unless offered money. In which case sell sell sell.

Tosi – If he can be convinced to stay, he should be kept. Class act.

John O’Flynn – Ten year deal imho.

Peter Berki – Apparently he drives the lads around in the minibus and is popular in Bruff. If cheap, should be kept as a kind of driver/mascot.

So, in summary, we need about a dozen players heading into next year. (I can’t remember the last year when this wasn’t the case)

No terrible harps or drogs to bail us out next year. If we go cheap we WILL get a repeat of relegationgate.

Speaking of finances, our beloved chairman has gone off to fight government oppresion. Anyone know the status of the moneyman??

    Discuss the issues.

Henry Cameron is signed for next year too....lol.

I'd be close enough to you I'd say I'd keep:

Dave O'Connor: As you say poor left back been solid as a CB wouldn't mind him as back up.

Dean Clarke: We know what he is capable of from the last time he was with us been messed around a bit this year being thrown around different positions and being taken out of the team when he has been doing well. Dunno how he isn't in the starting 11 now.

    Bastien: Obvious reasons

Lee J: Think he is our best player tbh and is only slowed down by the lack of quality around him at times. In a good team think he could be unreal.

Duggy: Has had a quiet year but is capable of dragging us through a game when needed if he can get back to himself.

Dozie: Shown at stages why he is one of the most exciting young talents in the league with a bit of good coaching could either be a top top player in this league or more than likely move across.

Tosi: Who would we replace his goals with realistically? Same as Lee J think he suffers from our lack of quality at the minute but still his goal tally is not to be sniffed at. Has shown his quality more than enough.

    Out:

Cotter: Not a hope he is going anywhere and not even really for football reasons I'd be fairly sure it would be for the same reasons as you have mentioned.

Kenny: Simply not up to premier standard

O'Flynn: Unfortunately I think his time is up unbelievable player in his day we saw signs of it last season but has he even played 90 mins throughout the whole season? Waste of his time sitting on the bench and not even getting a run.

Berki: Works hard not good enough.

Didn't mention Tracy cos I think he will make his own decision to leave anyway but I would keep him if he was up for it.

    I'd be looking to keep:

    Hall
    Clarke

    Whitehead
    O'Connor
    Tracy

    Lynch
    Hery
    Duggan
    Clarke
    Ogbene

    Tosi

If lads like Cotter and William Fitzgerald can be kept for next to nothing, then keep them too, find an underage team for them to play in if possible, even loan them out if possible. I wouldn't mind if Crowe was around as a right sided centre-half or general defensive backup.

O'Flynn doesn't have anything left in him I think, and Berki isn't enough of a threat. Kenny simply isn't good enough and never will be, so many attacks break down with him. Cameron was just a failure on every level, I wonder if what McDonald saw of him was before an injury that ruined him or something.

But it all depends on what they cost and what can be brought in to replace them. I don't think McDonald likes Dean Clarke at all, so he might be let go, which would be disappointing.

Ya if we are safe last game of season would like to see William get a run at Rovers.

    Pros:
    Ogbene, Hery, Tosi, Clarke, Lynch
Duggan and Tracey towards the end of the season
    Cup run generally
    Two Cork performances late on
Being just that little bit more consistent than the teams below

    Cons
    Inconsistent in every other respect
Taking ages to pick a new manager
Taking ages for the new manager to settle
    General mid-season transfer window shenanigans
Defensive players out of position constantly
    Cotter, Berki, Cameron
Duggan for most of the middle of the season
    More management/BA disputes

So much work to be done over the winter, but odds are, just as the last few managers have found, getting a team sorted for the coming season will take months and will only be sorted at the last second.

The one thing I will say in the clubs defence is the squad not being sorted before the start of this season was entirely the managers fault they had provided him with all the resources necessary and he failed miserably. Now it is still their fault they kept a manager they knew hadn't a clue how to assemble a squad but if they provide the same as last season you would hope Neil can do a lot better than his predecessor and himself so far in the market.

Probably either Hery or Ogbene out. Would be sorry to see either go. It's not often Limerick gets to have players of that quality.

Probably Ogbene. Too good for a team fighting relegation.

I’d say Hery. He has done enough for another team in England to come back in for him and he has been living in a hotel so probably not overly keen on staying.

If Ogbene goes we are in line for a payday. 20 years of age and 1 year to go in his contract.

Hery is living in a house in Dooradoyle with his missus.

That’s good to hear. Thought all the lads were still in the Limerick City Hotel.

I don't think it will be Bastien in the paper last I heard they were confident of keeping him. Have heard a rumour about who it could be in and if true and if we actually get this one in would be one of the best signings the club has made in my time.

This will drag out until mid February until he resigns with Derry or signs with cork and we sign Sean Brennan or something.

Nonsense. Surely a plant to generate interest in Ogbene.
