its irrelevant who owns the stadium. by the time the FAIs lease (or whatever arrangement on duration they have in place) runs out the stadium will be at the end of its life and will need to be rebuilt.

if the FAI had gone alone their debt would be multiples of the €34m that they still owe.

very few national associations actually own the stadiums they play in.

Morten Olsen managed Denmark for 17 years on something like 500 k a year. And not only did he coach the national team, he was heavily involved in reforming Danish football from top to bottom and developing youth coaching structures.

All O'Neill does is pick the team for international games and pick up his two million.

He does have to look at Roy Keane every now and again......Ye’d need a few bob for that .

The National team manager should have an obligation to be involved in youth football in the country. Most club managers have to have a large input in their club youth structures and they are able to find the time for that even when they have to worry about a game every week. International football is basically a part time job, the manager should be completely involved in all levels of football in the country, he has more than enough time and is paid more than enough.
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Sorry Razor but I disagree, he shouldn't. Same with club football. Rarely in Ireland and Britain, does a manager last long enough to instill an ethos or philosopy down through the streams, without the club constantly flip-flopping. That's what we have Ruud Dokter for. We don't make appointments based on identity of football at senior level.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!

In an ideal world the national team manager's ethos is in synch with what's underneath.

And look where the chopping and changing of marquee managers and lack of coherent system has gotten England and Ireland.

We have international teams who look like they've never played together before when they go out on to the pitch.

Meanwhile Spain implemented a system of playing and mentality from top to bottom and appointed mangers who were committed to the system and the country. Didn't turn out too badly, if my memory serves me correctly.

I'd pay 2 million to keep him away from the kids. "Lump it forward there"

Can't believe Philippe Troussier isn't on that list. McDermott at 33/1 is an interesting one.

Allardyce , McDermott , Kerr . Interesting to see if Allardyce would have any interest .

Jim McGuinness would certainly cause a stir .

Allardyce would be gone in a shot once a decent premier league job came along.

Has to be a misprint for Steven Reid. Not a good sign.

The anti-"hoofball" brigade would love Allardyce ok Perhaps in their fantasies Wenger would get the sack at Arsenal and take over the reins here and then the effects from the hangover from Carlsberg abates and they see once more MON pacing down the line as Duffy launches one on to the barrel chest of Murphy.

Ryan Giggs could be interesting option. No experience, but I wouldn't let the Staunton experience put me off that forever, other managers with little experience have done well in international football.

Get Robbie involved in the set up somehow too.

Who ever we get I just don't want another one coming in and immediately saying that we cant play football
    Its really not that complicated!!!
