I'd say Sunderland will be next option. He will suit keano to the ground imo.

Looks like it was more Carsleys decision than Everton, he had an option to renew and decided to move back to them midlands to be closer to his family. That would rule out the Sunderland option I would have thought.

    Carsley and Everton part company

Everton have announced midfielder Lee Carsley will leave the club.

The Republic of Ireland international is out of contract and has decided not to renew his deal at Goodison Park.

The 34-year-old, who has been at Everton for six years, will search for a club in the East Midlands in order to move closer to his family.

"Lee feels he now needs to be closer to his family and everyone at the club fully appreciates that," said Everton manager David Moyes.
Carsley, who signed from Coventry City for £1.9m in 2002, has been a regular fixture for Everton this season, missing just five of their 54 matches all season.

"I'd like to thank Lee Carsley for his years at Everton. He has undoubtedly been a big part in our success in the last few seasons," added Moyes.

Carsley has had offers from Derby, West Brom and also Birmingham.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

He has a daughter with Down Syndrome I think so it makes sense that he would want to be closer to his family at this stage of his career.

I think West Brom would be a good signing for both club and player, i'd say he has another year of prem football in him...

At his age he will be looking for a two year deal, it is unlikely he would get that at a ppremiership club. Birmingham have offered him a two year deal and as it will mean he will also be able to live at home with his family then it is a no brainier for him.

He wont be near West Brom I don't think as Mowbry will not go for that sort of player. He likes good passers of the ball. I think Birmingham or maybe Stoke would be an option or you never know even Villa.

Fair play to him. He still has a role with Ireland and I was always impressed with his coming back.

His options are really Birmingham, Derby and West Brom. For obvious reasons id like him to move to West Brom, but we got to remember that he is getting on now

Perhaps you should focus more on the fact that Everton wanted to re-sign him, rather than his advancing years...

Third post. I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to reckon he should go to Sunderland.

He could do a job for someone like Stoke. Physical side, near to Liverpool.

    What age is he now?

come on it was a joke/subtle dig at Keane's desire to sign as many players with an Irish passport! I think Keane should stay clear of him.
