1800 last year. Maybe less today with the damp weather and Friday night making travel difficult. We'll see.

This isn't a big enough game to justify a neutral ground. We wouldn't send more than a couple of hundred to Dublin for this game. Dundalk might send 1,000 maybe? Maybe. Maybe you get a few neutrals balancing it out.

This is the sort of game the FAI should be creating a bit of hype around.

It's the President's Cup - named for a very popular President who's willing to help promote the game/event. And it features the top 2 clubs in the country.

This should be advertised properly using Michael D. If he's on TV telling people how much he loves it and telling people to go along, people will listen. And they should also be getting the Presidents' office to be helping to promote it via Twitter etc.

The FAI just never even think about simple and obvious things like this

It's not ideal that the two teams competing in it are from opposite ends of the country.

It is still viewed as a pre-season game, so is only going to attract die-hards. This would be as much a case if it was in Oriel or TX.

I would have gone to Cork if it was on a Saturday or Sunday, but a Friday evening?

agree with that I was thinking of tipping down but I'd have to leave work early and I'm saving those "earlies" for Rovers away matches.
Should be on a Saturday night IMHO

It was planned for the Saturday, we had our AGM scheduled for tonight. The Presidents office indicated that he would only available for tonight... but now hes out of the country anyway so....

I'd be surprised if the attendance exceeded 2k for this one, also agree neutral venue wouldn't work, it has to be toss of a coin. We don't even have neutral venue for cup semi finals, always thought H+A for fai cup semi's (as we had in the mid 80's) would be fairer but that's for another day.

Should be a good match tonight, I'm not going but I`ll be closely following, I think the main use for both sides is a final work out against decent opposition.

I'm trying to think without google checking, but I think the 'away' side has never won the new version of the President's Cup. The trend might continue tonight if Dundalk win as we are effectively the home side
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Mostly all Dundalk going by the highlights on the FAI twitter, Sava doing his best Chuckle Brothers impression for both Cork goals, legs wider than the Grand Canyon for the first after Barrett made a haimes of a high ball over the top and Sava just chucked a free into his own top corner ffs.

If anyone has their own boots and a sleeve tattoo, then they've a fair chance of getting a game at centre-half for either side. Paddy Barrett was particularly doubleplusungood.

Does anyone know what the rule for substitutions was? If I counted correctly, Cork made 4 subs and Dundalk made 5.
