Sean Maguire stretchered off after an horrendous challenge by Patrick McClean. Thankfully only bruising for Seanie.
Patrick apparently apologised for the tackle in the car park yet took to Facebook afterwards to gloat about the challenge and was joined by his Irish international brother James who made some fairly disparaging remarks about a fellow Irish international (albeit u21). Shane Duffy also gets involved bizarrely enough.
Fairly scummy behaviour IMO. Should be interesting should they meet in MSC or any other cup comp this year.

Complete stupidity out of Patrick McClean. He doesn't even deserve the attention to be honest.
Shane Duffy getting stuck into Cork City fc News about it on twitter as well.
Poor form from Patrick but absolutely no need for James and Duffy to get involved, they should know better.
Friendly or not it's a disgrace McClean isn't banned for a tackle like that, he clearly went in to do the player and his behaviour online since is absoutly disgusting.
The tackle was disgraceful. I was at the game and he did appear to intend to hurt him. But we'd all get over it if he just kept his head down and not go public to advertise his and his brothers stupidity.

Players should know better. Getting onto social media about tackles in games is childish.
They don't seem to be the sharpest tools that McClean family
Cork city fans and Derry people in a MOPERY battle.
Are we sure the internet can take it.
Tackle was strong, and mistimed, but you'd expect that in preseason.
I'd expect my centre halves to go in hard, irregardless of friendly or not. He's playing for a spot in the starting XI come Athlone.
Anyone who thinks he intentionally went to hurt Maguire is deluded or never kicked a ball in their life. looking at the photo he tackles with 1 foot, and doesn't have his studs showing in a malicious way. If he wanted to do him, he easily could of went in two footed, studs showing.
Game is gone soft if you can't leave a bit of meat on the end of a tackle anymore. Seanie thankfully is ok, and will be back to his best in a few days. Comments online aren't clever, but if he had of seriously hurt the player I'd like to imagine they wouldn't if appeared.
What's worse IMO, is the Cork thugs targeting Shane Duffy, (who had actually commented that it was nasty) posting pictures to him of when he had his liver reptured in a game (again, an honest attempted to take a ball) and almost died.
IMO anyone who thinks he wasn't trying to hurt him has never kicked a ball. Maguire was gone past him when he went through him.
But tbh, what you or I think of the challenge is besides the point. The McCleans and Duffy shouldn't be online making such comments, whether provoked or not. They are in a position where they are meant to be role models, and their comments are childish and provocative (although that seems to be a trend with the McCleans).

Shane Duffy was foolish to get involved, but abuse of that nature is just so uncalled for and shouldn't be brought up no matter the circumstances. I'm ashamed that a "fan" of my club would resort to saying something like that.
