Common sense would tell me he is hardly going to say I signed for a bad contract it would also tell me that he is from Dublin and rovers are on the way up. (How far remains to be seen).
I don't know why you guys are so bitter about him leaving and can only see buckets of money as the reason ...he's made you enough money to replace him ten times over.
Horgan and boyle leave as hero's finn is a mercenary who only left for the money ????
Stand back and think about it lads.

Finn owes Dundalk nothing (like every player at every club), though the 40k bonus might have made him think twice about leaving. Dundalk should have realised he was always a risk to leave, hes 29 and hes played for UCD, Sporting Fingal, Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk. He was always likely to move on again sooner or later.

I'm not bitter about Finn. He was a free agent and entitled to negotiate with another club

I am disappointed that he has sold himself short by leaving Dundalk and joining Shamrock Rovers. He was part of something special and was playing the best football of his career.

Has he really though? Maybe he thinks hes leaving Dundalk at their peak and that it will be impossible to replace Horgan and Boyle?

Cork thought the title was in the bag when Towell left. This is the third pre-season in a row where Dundalk are supposed to have been fatally weakened.

They aren't fatally weakens by any means they have two guys that can step in and the money to sign a couple of decent foreign players...if anything they will be stronger.
With so many new players coming into rovers I would have liked an easier start to get a few compeititive games together. ..Cork dundalk and derry are 3 of our first 5 matches. They had better get a few decent friendlies against good sides under their belts in jan/feb

I think a fair point by El P, Dundalk should have realised Finn was at risk and moved much quicker to secure his services for 2017, but players move all the time, it was disappointing but it's just the way it goes with contracts in this league.

I would expect Dundalk to be busy in the market from 1st Jan, there should be plenty of quality options out there, but they won't be cheap as they will likely to be returning Irish players from UK or other players out of contract. They have the money to get replacements in, plenty of time also.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Yeah Kenny managed it fine the last time he faced this sort of situation.

There's not going to be too many players from the UK out of contract in January unless their clubs release them early. No players contest would end in January. There may be one or two but realistically any player coming in from the UK may incur a fee.

Some of the names rumoured to be signing for Waterford. Whether they do or not is another thing haha

Hopefully Cork will keep the Browne - Bennett partnership throughout the season

Usually around now clubs in England are looking to find new clubs for some of the players they don't need or want. I know Rovers have spoken to a couple who can leave if they want, and I'd imagine Dundalk are looking at similar players. Trouble is, all nonsense about who offered Finn more aside, they're often on wages both clubs would laugh at.

Spot Murphy & Gary Delaney confirmed for the Blaas. If Robin Dempsey signs & plays regularly, the title race is back up for grabs

I thought changing this would have been a priority for them. In a way they got away with it in 2016, they did have the best defensive record after all.

A big difference between losing Towell at the end of one season, and losing Horgan AND Boyle AND Finn at the end of another.
Not sure Cork will be the main challengers in 2017, Bradley is throwing a decent squad together, nab a top striker and they are a real danger

Stuey? As in Byrne - how dare you, and at Christmas of all times. No idea what I did to offend you, for you to offend me in such a manner.
