Disappointment in Ferrycarrig tonight as the Youths could hardly muster an effort on goal until too late against a Bray side who created the only moments of quality in a drab game. With blustery conditions, Shane Keegan started with Lee Chin in the middle of the back four and went with Graham, Craig, Lee G., Lee C., Andy O'C., Eric, Shane Dempsey, Jonny, Andy M., and with Spot and Roxy up front. First half was particularly poor with neither side able to create much except for one passing move by Bray which resulted in the only goal of the half. On two minutes, Lee Chin did well to cut out a dangerous cross by Bray inside his own area and facing towards his own goal. On five minutes, Wexford's only good delivery into the box - the long throws by Craig McCabe - allowed the ball to drop to Spot Murphy, but his waist-high volley went over. With seventeen gone, Spot couldn't control a good cross from the left by Andy O'Connor, and the chance was lost. In the 23rd minute, first decent chance fell to Bray, when a good move resulted in a shot which Graham could only parry, and the ball fell to Mark Salmon who finished easily for 1-0 to Bray. With Wexford chipping the ball forward against the wind and it proving easy for the dominant Bray defence to deal with in the air, there was hardly a chance for the remainder of the half with yellow cards being shown to Andy O'Connor, Lee Chin and Spot Murphy. 1-0 to Bray at half-time.

Second half wasn't much better in truth. At the start of the second period, Shane Dunne came on in place of Andy Mulligan who had got a knock in the first half. On 52 minutes, Roxy Keenan had the ball in the net but it was ruled out presumably for a push. On 55 minutes, Lee Chin did well to prevent a second goal after a bad pass-back by Lee Grace. However, on the hour mark, another bad back-pass to Graham Doyle allowed Ger Pender to round the stranded Wexford keeper and he knocked the ball home for 2-0 to Bray. It was 3-0 with 17 minutes to go, when a neat one-two put Bray's Kevin Lynch in the clear and he struck it past Graham Doyle for 3-0. Wexford's consolation goal came with five minutes to go, when Cherrie didn't punch the ball away far enough, and Shane Dempsey volleyed it to the net from inside the Bray box for a final score of 3-1 to Bray.

Not the performance that Shane Keegan would have hoped for, and you'd now think that it's the play-offs that await Wexford at best. Best for Wexford on a dark night were Lee Grace, Jonny Bonner and Eric Molloy, with Craig McCabe the best of the home XI with some reasonable deliveries into the opponent's penalty area both with his throws and crosses. Lee Chin had a promising debut and has a good touch but got caught on the turn a couple of times. Heard an unconfirmed figure of 571 as the attendance on the way out. 3-1 to Bray at full-time.
