Still enough out there to make a fairly good squad imo but the standard of signing will need to go up a notch and we still need 4 or 4 top quality signings. Not looking like there are any strikers available in Ireland now so will more than likely have to look in the UK dunno what our contacts are like over there now. Depends who we keep too like I said earlier keep Greene and bringing in Turner and Clarke too is a clear improvement out wide but lose Greene and its not really improving things at cos while Clarke is better than Kenny Turner is not better than Greene. Surprised Paudie and Kelly aren't re-signed yet either.

    Squad at the minute
    Goalies: Freddy Hall, Brendan Clarke

Defenders: Shane Tracy, Robbie Williams, Tony Whitehead, Dave O'Connor

    Midfielders: Lee J Lynch,Shane Duggan,Paul O Conor, Ian Turner

    Strikers: Chris Mulhall, Garbhan Coughlan
It's fairly worrying that's what's signed so far is almost identical to what we started the 2015 season with!

O Donnel,Rice, Clarke and Faherty v Hall, O Connor, Lee J and Mulhall the difference which hardly improves things.

Yep apart from goalkeeper position nothing is improved yet but then with how many we have signed its not really time to panic yet. What is very important for me now is we absolutely have to get the best of what was there last season signed up now whats left from that now Shaun Kelly, Paudie O'Connor and Aaron Greene is it? I get the feeling they are gonna let Greene go and just replace him and Kenny with Clarke and Turner and tbh thats no improvement at all. If we were to keep those 3 from last year at least then CB and out wide would have some depth added to it with CB= Robbie Paudie Dave O Connor Whitehead and out wide= Greene Turner Clarke and if we were greedy maybe Kenny.

We need a proper squad now that means having premier division standard players on the bench as well as in starting 11 last season we had 11 maybe 12 and that was just first division standard.

Whitehead and Coughlan rather than say Kelly and Greene was a bit of a worry of an announcement with Williams.

It would be nearly impossible to put together a squad as bad as the one that was put together in 2015.

    Nearly...

If we could get the lads signed up from last year that are left we would have

    .......................Freddy/Clarke......................

    Kelly............Paudie/Whitehead..........Robbie/D O'C.............Tracy

    Duggy..........................O'Conor............ ......Lee J

    Turner/Kenny..............Mulhall/Garbhan..............Greene

That wouldn't be a bad start imo if you could add maybe 4 good starting level players to that then fill the squad with the young lads I think we would be near top half at least. And yes I am extremely bored right now.

Sean Kelly has been in some sponsorship photoshoots recently - so he is still around the club at least.

I think it's important that we hold on to him and Paudie.

Green I can take or leave, he is a lazy ******* and a luxury we wont be able to afford in the premier.

Shane Tracy at left full is a recipe for disaster. We need a proper full back.

I think Greene will actually step up in premier, could be wrong like but he is better than anyone else I have listed in wide positions on that he would be the only one id say is proven premier standard actually. If we got that signed up I would ideally want the 4 starting standard players signed to be left back centre mid striker and another winger. I am hoping for a bit much given our record of building squads though.

You would hope he would step up, but in the games against premier opposition this season he didn't.

He is excellent when he bothers, but too often he just doesn't bother. I am not sure we can afford that given the likely strength of our squad. If it was a choice between him and Dean Clarke I would choose Clarke.

That squad up there is scary bad.

As in lose a playoff at the end of the season and get relegated again bad.

I take the point about Dean Clarke and Aaron Greene but by the same token I would choose a half eaten sandwich of Aaron Greene's over Ian Turner. He needs to be signed failing any obvious alternatives. Paudie I could take or leave to be honest. In an ideal world leave.

    .
Looking at it right now, we desperately need a striker. A real one, not a makeshift one. Muhall is a blunt instrument that worked in the first division, but looked limited against premier opposition, although maybe he could be a decent option off the bench. Also, he as a winger originally, so he could play there as backup for/ahead of Turner. (Backup for Ian Turner...what a role in professional life).

And I'd say it's the position we are least likely to sign a decent player in.

Clarke and Greene would be my preferred wide men.

Good to see people taking notice of how bad we've done in signing players. LTID and Osarusan have nailed the frailty of the current squad. There is no chance of us getting 4/5 more players of quality. So far we don't seem to have learnt anything from our last foray in the premier league. Worrying times but as BWA says, let's wait and see what else the club do.

I would definitely think he is an option. If chances are created for him he is a proven goalscorer.

Is what we saw of O' Flynn last season as good as it gets these days? Or was he injured/unfit and has recovered from that?

Give him chances and he will take them, but we won't be creating anywhere near as much as last season, and apart from scoring, he didn't contribute all that much (fine in the first, but I'm not sure about the premier).

I think he should be re-signed, doubt any other premiere teams would offer him great money, I don't think there's any strikers available out there that are far better, great if we sign someone better OFlynn would be handy backup.

Are the Dennehys supposed to be signed? if so it's not the worst team so far, shouldn't need to worry about relegation anyway!

Is this a runner? Be great if true. Should be realistic you'd imagine. Love to see Gary McCabe come off. Any links with UCDs Gary O Neill? Outstanding last season and he Is a Tralee lad too.
