Be carefull what you wish for. He signed some absolute dross when he was with Bray and played awful football. I know he was successful with Longford last time but that was a long time ago. The last few jobs he's had point to him being a spent force.
Cue miraculous turnaround at Longford...

I hope Mathews has his own back room staff, assistant, etc, after last nights dross I will be more than happy for new blood running the show, it cannot be any worse. I hope Mathews was watching he will have seen first hand the pretenders who go through the motions but produce nothing and the ones who actually do want to play not just collect wages

Didn't see him there last night which is a shame becuase as you said there are some absolute pretenders in that team. Their attitude last night stunk of why should we bother trying hard for this guy since he's not our manager anymore. The least interested display of football I've ever seen. Midfield is a disgrace

yep never at the races. according to paul buttner in the sun today Mathews was at the match!hope his eyes are opened!

Sorry for Cousins but pretty inevitable given results this season. Always surprised me that expectations seemed high in Longford, would have thought staying up was as good as it would have got (at best).

Mattews should at least make them more solid although a thing of beauty ? maybe not.

There seems to be a perception out there that town fans have these huge expectations. That's BS. Why wouldn't we expect to finish above amateur Wexford side, above a newly promoted Harps or a Bray team that was in crisis for long periods. Il say it again, anyone could have guided that 2014 team to promotion, the sponsorship deal we had then put Premier clubs to shame never mind the teams we were up against in the FD.

strangely enough I was looking thro old match reports from cousins first season in 10 and he had the same probs then that he had when leavin us.. players not playin for him tactics not great fans not happy ,poor results. it wasnt to the extent that it was this season but thought I would make the point!

He deserves credit for spoofing his way through 7 seasons, a fantastic achievement that may never be matched
