What is the story with Kenny Shiels? I was listening to the sports report on RTE on the way back from Donegal and he was alleging that he was surrounded by Cork coaching staff after the game and was subject to sectarian abuse from them.
Didn't see what happened but as you can guess given the managers that it got pretty heated on the touchline throughout the second half. Derry went into go slow mode when they scored. Not sure what was said in the end.

Derry will be sick that they couldn't close the game out, but they sat way too deep in the last 15 mins and couldn't hold out - vital win.

Paul McNally went in goals for us away to Dundalk in 2000/2001. Kept a clean sheet too as far as I recall. It's a rare occurrence but it's not unheard of.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

    Yes, between both divisions.

The last time an AWAY team won 7-0 in the top tier was in Jan 1984, when Shamrock Rovers beat Drogheda. This win is actually the first time 0-7 has occurred since the Premier Division started in Oct 1985. The last game that had at least a 7 goal winning margin AWAY in the Premier was when Sligo Rovers beat Galway United 8-0 in Jul 2011.

We're not great to holding on to wins in general, especially over the last week. Pathetic stuff. We all knew it was coming from half time, even if we did start the second half well.
That's twice this week we've been winning in the 85th. We've finished those games with one point. Not good enough for a side that people are chatting about qualifying for Europe.

Heard reports of what was said to Shields afterwards, not nice. I suppose the FAI will be looking into it. Shields was raging in his post-match media interviews too.

Do you think the FAI care? Nasty stuff is said between benches all the time.

Perhaps abuse of a sectarian or racist nature will be taken more seriously.

We went 1-0 up, the our keeper Brian McKenna was sent off when giving away a penalty. Fran Hitchcock went into goals and saved the penalty, and made a few other good saves too. Then he messed up a last-minute cross completely to allow a shot towards an open goal, and a defender gave away another penalty by blatantly saving with his hands. The same player who had taken the first penalty also took the second, and put it wide.
If memory serves me right, Fran Hitchcock had been a goalkeeper through his early football life and playing in goal would not have presented a major issue for him

Watching a repeat of Pats and Longford on Setanta.

The state of Keith Tracey, he looks heavier than when at Drogheda last season.

We scored 8 against in Terryland against what was Galway United in 2011 - in fairness to them they were obviously on the way out

If I remember correctly Joe Barriscale was sub keeper and Billy Kinnane put Hitchcock in goal instead of bringing him on!
