How long is his contract? It'll cost them a few quid to pay him off. I'm sure they'll pay up promptly though. Doolin is the likely successor apparently. Nothing could go wrong there either.

I wonder is there a clause that if the club drop to the relegation position that he can be relieved of his duties?
If he is gone, he leaves behind a legacy of 2 year contracts for players many of whom have poor injury records and guess what, many of whom are injured. A difficult job for anyone to come into.
He let a lot of solid players go, who seem to be doing good jobs elsewhere. He also started the season with the player of the year on the bench for several games - not a clever thing to do, as far as the fans are concerned, if you are not winning!

Who'd agree to that kind of a clause? Whatever about a clause if you actually got relegated, a clause around just dropping into the relegation positions would be nonsense. Especially given Bray weren't exactly table toppers when he joined.

Somebody who hadn't worked for a while, who hadn't done so well at their last club and who was keen to get back in to football might accept such a clause. Players often have to take pay as you play clauses!
When he took over, Trevor Croly had Bray on a good run, Cooke was assured of, and did get a big budget. He was talking top 4/ challenging at the beginning of the season and he hasn't managed to get even one high tempo passionate performance from HIS players. We were actually quite lucky to beat Sligo and 4-0 flattered us - they had plenty of chance to win that game.

I'm not saying he hasn't underperformed but if he agreed to a clause like that then he's an idiot quite frankly.

It's not unreasonable for any club to sack a manager who has failed to live up to expectations. Pre season talk was Bray were aiming for top half and the budget was a lot higher than previous seasons. Cooke signed a lot of players who have not lived up expectations. Conor Kenna, Ryan Brennan, Dean Kelly, Mark Salmon are all experienced LOI players. As is, Mick Daly who has not played a game due to injury.
We lost a lot of good players as Cooke did not seem to want players he did not sign - Sullivan, Cassidy, Hanlon, Scully.
Now we are stuck with players on two year contracts that don't seem to care about playing for the club.

Cooke is an old fashioned manager who plays long ball football and does not seem to want to change from that.

Or perhaps he didn't have a written contract at all.

Than Pat Fenlon of course! On the evidence of Friday night lumping it long to a Miele when up against 2 of the bigger more physical type centre-halfs in the league. Massey and Gannon are no mugs in the air either. Cooke would at least have focused the long ball toward Drennan. North came on and the ball got played in to space that he wasn't mobile enough to get on, the type of ball the Miele thrives on, So Cooke would be lest blinded by sheer rage and ignorance and have an experienced clarity and lacking of desperation. He couldn't have done any worse and Dundalk have regularly had trouble dealing with his former Monaghan and Drogheda sides that hasnt occurred with Fenlon's Rovers.
