The Drogs have top class facilities at Mosney, the old holiday camp. Halfway between Drogheda and Balbriggan on the old troad.

Not even sure where we train these days. Was DCU, then even Dalymount in the dark dark days. Could be IT Blanch now but stand to be corrected.

It's a where teams train thread, not house players

Sligo Rovers have grass and astro pitches in the Showgrounds. Not sure if they still use the gym facilities in Sligo IT.

Think Harps do most of their training in Letterkenny, they took a lease out on the old Curragh Athletic pitch at the Cross, see floodlights being installed there, think it's to be used for the academy mostly but will be available for 1st team training as well Afaik.

Seems some clubs are really falling behind some others. When you hear stuff like they train here but sometimes here its not great. I know it can be expensive to build and run a training facility but you get the sense its an afterthought by some clubs which considering the players spend at least 80% of their time playing football there isn't really good enough. Don't see why more clubs don't get into partnership with local colleges or uni's and share facilities considering how much some college's spend on their sports facilities. It is encouraging though to see clubs like Limerick, both Rovers', Cork, Galway, Pats, Waterford, UCD, and Bohs (if they do use DCU or IT Blanch), and to an extent maybe Derry and Wexford too, having one, good quality training ground either already or in planning (or both in Cork's case).

Dundalk sold their training ground for about 800k and it since has been sold on again (for 60k! - there's a lesson for land speculators somewhere) and still have use whenever needed. DkIT Sport is also available with DkIT as a sponsor also. It is an area of least concern for Dundalk FC currently with Oriel Park the way it is. Could be a tad ironic if a training pitch could pass licencing if it was a requirement but the main pitch fails!

I think I remember seeing a picture of Fenlon lining the pitch when you were in those dark days. I liked him a bit more that day!

I also recall a photo of him helping out in the club shop. I am not sure he knew where the shop was, but the Bohs PR machine was well oiled in those days

There was a method to his madness though - he saw what was being made by the shop then and insisted on it being added to his player budget.

Is that the field beside oriel? Dundalk have a great thing going with DkIT with scholarships and the use of facilities and everything. All clubs should be aiming for similar.

Hiney Park at the rear of Oriel yes. But Dundalk have used the Army pitch also prior to a game or games where the pitch could be heavy/poor. I doubt there is a pitch in the town that wouldn't be available if requested by the club for use tbh. The fields behind the the Carrick Rd goal belong to one of the local Secondary schools as does Hiney Park of recent also. Club provides a bit of coaching for the school I believe and the school lets the club continue using the playing fields in proximity to Oriel. I've heard that there is possibility of changing rooms etc being built in conjunction with each other in the future that the youth sides would benefit from as would the school's teams. But there isnt any hurry on this either. It is fairly informal stuff with the school whereas DkIT is a formal arrangement and have no shortage of decent pitches on the main campus too in addition to DkIT Sport (former Soccerdome incl. gym facilitiies, swimming pool, saunas etc.)

Well Planning Permission is the next step. I know that City were hoping to break ground this year, but I think this stage has dragged on a bit so who knows.

Work on Roadstone is apparently starting soon but does anybody know what they're doing? All I've heard is Artificial pitch and good grass pitch but if your man is putting a million quid into it and the grant money surely more is being done
