Limerick FC v Cobh Ramblers - 19/5 - Markets Field

    Predictions ?

My first game at the Markets Field, Saturday. Can't wait for it. Love to see us win it handy. I wonder will the attendance Vs UCD be bettered by much ?

You'd imagine Cobh would bring a few more than UCD, right?

On the basis of the first two games this should be handy enough, but I've been told Cobh have improved a fair bit since last season.

Cobh will be decent, they won up in Tolka and a draw with Drogheda shows they are a decent side. On paper they have signed some very good players also. The fact we are at home I'd be expecting a win, if it was in st.colmans it would be a much tougher challenge.

Limerick 3-1 Cobh with 1,500 attendance.

I'm expecting a tough game against probably a team that is expected to push us for promotion but I expected that against UCD aswell but.
standard in this division is average also as I said before been full time in this league is absolutely massive.

This will be far tougher than the previous two games I would imagine Henderson has always been able to set up well against us even the last time we were strong in this division. Like others have said I am more comfortable with it because we are at home because the size and quality of the pitch suits us far more than anyone else in this division. We need to start seeing improvement defensively now fair enough Waterford never really threatened til we fell asleep but that has to be cut out immediately.

Gonna be cautious and go for a 2-1 win.

Excellent performance again scoring for fun from what I seen so far this league will be over with plenty games to spare teams dropping points to each other after only 3 games

What a win, 6 different scorers too. Is there a cup in this side with a good draw? Arguably, with the new signings just before the start of the season, it's a better squad than last year.

Scoring for fun. Must be balanced against quality of the opposition I suppose, but looking more and more like Limerick are strolling through this division.

Unfortunately the opposition is very poor in this division. Both UCD and Cobh were talked up as challengers to limerick. Both are rubbish in reality. All limerick can do is go out each week and play what's in front of them. It's looking like the full time set up and quality of some players is the turning point in games. While dominating match's we're killing them off late in the game when the opposition has nothing left in the tank. You'd have to worry for teams like Athlone and Cabinteely when they come to the Market's Field. Someone is going to get hammered into double figures.

Worst first division in recent times, some of the opposition players on show so far completely out of their depth and especially against us given our present structure,Russell must be rubbing his hands, after 60 or so mins of every match he will be able to think what he wants to put in his snack box later and what drink to choose.....bigger crowds ,record points and goals record almost certainly in front of us now.

A lot of people have said to me they worry people will get bored if we keep hammering teams and crowds will drop what do people on here think? I'm not so sure because its not like we are used to it in Limerick this is very much the first time I have ever seen us be so far ahead of others.

If we do keep winning handy and the crowds drop off then you would have to wonder what people want.

Bigger crowds for sure, its not as if we have been flush with winning teams in recent times,....winning games....scoring plenty of goals, people will lap it up.

Nah, success attracts. Admittedly it might be a hell of a comedown next season, but the people will come even if Limerick are walking over opposition.

Think that myself that crowds drop when winning too easy. It works well for series one but in series 3 when you meet Cobh again many will think not watching them hammer that team again. I think people like at least a competitive game not a game where one team is in first gear.

I know its a different era but remember Athlone winning the league for a second time when it was the strange points year with the extra points for away wins etc. We went unbeaten for a long part of the season and when it became too predictable I remember crowds just disappearing and that was when we didn't have anything else other than soccer.

On next weeks game you could hit us for double figures quite easy.

Good 2-4 win in the cup tonight down in cobh.
Stronger team than I expected positives obviously another 4 goals scored but yet again another 2 goals conceded just can't seem to keep a clean sheet cobh had a few more decent chances aswell.

Good win considering the team ended up having 5 changes and we could take off O'Flynn and Paudie early. I thought it would be a closer game to be honest.
