Given the better players like McNamee and McLaughlin have come from Donegal in recent years I'd say they're just trying to get in where the best players are coming from, but I'd have thought Derry people would be more annoyed they weren't putting the same focus on their own city.

Don't understand why DERRY are setting up in Donegal and right on Harps doorstep
Why not focus within there own county which has produced some great players already, leave Harps to attract Donegal players to Harps and then swoop in and take them then at a later date as they already do
We are the SR the SRFC.......
Part time Finn Harps too :)

If a decent player is with Stute or another club, he will get noticed by ourselves anyway. If it came to it, we're in a better position to get that player to join us too. I guess this is a gradual process of setting up centres, and I reckon we'll get more bang for our buck targetting areas outside the city, which is why we're going for Donegal, Tyrone, etc. first.
For the record, we do have an academy in the city at present, but it doesn't seem to be along the lines of what has been proposed by these 'soccer satellite' centres, which seem to be aimed at a wider age group. It'd be great to see this set-up in city too, not just for players, but to generate future fans.
Have you ever won the treble?
