With 3 days until the start of the 2016 Airtricity League Season Athlone Town are now in position to release their official registered squad when it was confirmed by the League Department early this week. Over the last month Alan Mathews has signed a total of 25 players.The squad is as follows

Interesting that you'd note Foley as throwing the toys out of the pram, but replace him with Rob Maloney who threw a hissy fit at Cabinteely last year and walked away from them.

Don't see why thats interesting. I didnt know about Maloney. Just saying what i know about Foley.

Rob Maloney walked out of Cabinteely mid-season. Daddy Maloney was a financial backer at Cabo, didn't like how things were going, so himself and Rob went in and told them 'money or get rid of Gormley'. Gormley stayed with the backing of the club, Maloneys f**ked off. Acted the spoiled child when things didn't go his way and walked.

Agree with Nigel here and it's not like he's the only player that wouldn't work under Mathews he's far from popular with a lot of players.

Mathews released Foley from Shels a few years back so probably history there.

Sure its Alan Mathews, you wouldn't be human if you didn't throw your toys out of the pram if you saw him walk into your dressing room.

Interesting. We'll have to see how it works out. Sometimes certain players just don't click with certain managers

Think he was in Galway last year.
Limerick ??-2013
Cork City - 2014
Galway - 2015
now Waterford.

Very talented player but he didn't show it often enough for us in 2014. Surprised to see him drop so low.

All these new signings from the UK for us reminds me of the mid 90s when it seems every match a new player was announced. These ranged hugely from the good ( Gilzean, Kelly ) to the not so good (Daniel Moreno)
