Very late goal secured the three points for UCD in very tight game in Ferrycarrig tonight in first U19 league match of season. First half was even with chances very scarce and I think there was only one shot on target apiece in the first period as neither side committed many forward. Second half was better and became more open as the match wore on. UCD went ahead midway through the second half when a cross from the right was prodded home perhaps off a deflection. Youths equalised a few minutes later when the UCD keeper blasted a clearance off the a-rse of the oncoming Youths forward who had half-turned his back and it went straight in. With two minutes to go of the 90, UCD went ahead when the UCD left winger cut in from his wing and curled a nice shot just inside the top right corner. Wexford Youths pressed and had one great chance when Daryl Power was put clear but the UCD keeper did really well to block the powerful effort on goal away. 2-1 to UCD at full-time in a match shaded by the College U19s who had largely dominated the second period.

UCD looked strongest down both flanks while Youths looked best in the middle of the back four with Andy Wall very impressive.
