Youngest Player to play in the LOI

As I lay in bed tossing and turning unable to sleep I've couple of answers I'm curious to finding an answer to. The quickest goal thread gave me the thought in the first place. (Never seen a thread of this topic, apologies if there are).

-Who is the youngest person to play an LOI (Including both leagues and all cups - EA, FAI, Munster/Leinster etc) game in either division and at what year and day old were they?

-Who is the youngest goalkeeper to start and play 90 minutes in the LOI (Both league and all cups - EA, FAI, Munster/Leinster etc) and how many years and days old was he?

In reference to the youngest player Sean Duffy came on as a substitute in the Munster Cup for Waterford in February he was 16 at the time (Not sure how many days old, I'll find that out tomorrow). He played 10 minutes or so.

In reference to the youngest goalkeeper Matthew O Connor has been Waterford's number one this year. He started the season aged 17 as number one and currently still is number one and is now 18 (If find out the days tomorrow). Not such if he played an competitive game last year, although he played in a friendly aged 16.

Ciaran Gallagher was 17 years and two days when he first played for Harps against Sporting Fingal in April 2009 coming on for the injured Gavin Cullen.

Shaun Patton was 16 years and 222 days when he made his first appearance for Harps away to Waterford coming on for the injured Ciaran Gallagher. He started against SD Galway a week later and played 90 minutes.

Ciaran Coll and Raymond Foy were both 17 years 7 months when making their debuts.

I don't remember any younger for Harps, although I know there's been a few close to that and a couple of players made sub appearances at 17 years old.

Didn't Martin Murray make his debut at 16 way back in the 70s?
Also Ben McLaughlin for Dundalk I think was 16 too

There was a really young lad who played for Galway United maybe 15 years ago - he was at most 16 but possibly 15. Forget his name but obviously was being eyed up by English clubs (possibly Sunderland) so I guess we wanted to give him a senior game.

There was a 15 year-old who scored a goal up North earlier this season - for Dungannon I think!
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

Ramblers current first choice right back Adam o'Sullivan turned 17 last month. George Gill current u19 player also started a few games last season in the first division and was 17 at most, may have been 16. Current Cobh Wanderers player Michael O'Shea also debuted for Ramblers at 16 y.o.

Was Mikey 16? I coulda sworn he was in there and he doing his Junior Cert. he was an unbelievable prospect..What about Martin Deady? Surely he played at 16 for the first team?? There have been a few at Cobh to be fair...

I can't remember the exact ages so you could be right there, maybe someone involved with club can shed those details but I do remember reading in the papers at the time O'Shea became the youngest player ever to play senior for the club. I don't think Martin Deady broke that record but I'm sure he did debut for ramblers at 17/18 along with David Meyler and a lad I never heard again Brendan O'Sullivan.

The youngest in recent years was Kevin Loughran when he turned out for Monaghan United against Finn Harps on the 18/03/2011, he was born on 04/10/1995, which would have made him 15 years, 158 days.

A lot of our current first team are only 17/18.

As mentioned in the link above Steven McGann scored on his debut for us at 15.

Am I confusing Garbhan Coughlan with McGann, or did Coughlan also make his debut very young?

This is another thing that I'd say the FAI don't have records for. Although, with correct teamsheets and birth certs, it should be possible to make a list.

Ya Garbhan was young too, maybe 16/17. McGann was around the same time.

I think the days of hoping to become a professional footballer have passed for me...born 1995 and playing at 15 seems almost wrong!

Everyone on that site is a former "starlet" or "star". No average players in junior football.

Sure they'd win the LOI if they were bothered, but the LOI is ****e, and sure there are no local players, and the grounds are awful.
