Jimmy Hasty Documentary on BBC Radio Ulster

BBC Radio Ulster have produced a documentary on Jimmy Hasty, one of the finest players to have played in the League Of Ireland.

Jimmy was a striker who played despite having only one arm, scored over a hundred league goals for Dundalk in the 60's. His natural talent was such that George Best said he could do things with a tennis ball that George couldn't do with a full size ball.

Jimmy Hasty was murdered by loyalists in 1974.

The short video footage on that BBC website is fascinating.

Had the pleasure of seeing him play. His ball control was terrific and he was totally fearless.

I'll shoehorn this in here as i cant think of anywhere else to put it.

A special documentary ‘Once in a Lifetime’ provides a retelling of stories of Dundalk FC’s 1979/80 European Cup campaign. Adapted from real-life testimonies and interviews with players this piece of documentary film examines the themes of solidarity, strength and community.
The Square 1 production of ‘Once in a Lifetime’ will premiere at An Táin Arts Centre on Thursday, 30 June, a screening will be shown on Setanta Sports Ireland on Thursday, 6 August at 9.00pm.
