    Cork (A) 13/03/15

So, this should be interesting after the first game.

I'm going to be positive with this and think we'll get a draw. Either 0 0 or 1 1. We were competitive against them in the cup game, so hoping there might still be a bit of that in the team somewhere.

No doubt there is huge potential here to be spanked by a few goals as well. I'd like to see Faherty started ahead of Rainsford to see how he plays with Clarke.

I think Clarke might be able to do the job in where rainsford has been playing and Faherty up top. In saying that Clarke has been scoring a lot up top on his own.

We have been shipping quiet a few goals in games and I think Cork will want to show that they are better than they were in the munster senior cup.

I'm going to go for Cork 4-1 Limerick. Clarke with our goal.

A draw would be a great result for us but i can see cork wanting to give us a lesson after the cup defeat and also it being there first home game of the season for them.i'm heading down for the game tonight.hopefully we can give them a good game.

Our only hope is cork are not playing overly well looked very average in Munster cup and seemingly poor again against Sligo lucky to get a draw, an early goal for them and it could be a hiding can't see us getting anything hopefully an improved display anyway 6 goals conceded in 2 games not good.

    5-0 now.

Hard to see anymore than 300 at next week's game. Can't fool the fans. They knew well we'd be miles off the pace and that is shining through.

Feel bad for the young lads learning the hard way.

Terrible result.the team just isnt good enough.you cant get rid of most of last seasons team and expect to win with under 19's and a few seniors.i know its only two games in but i cant see them staying up this year.missing shane duggan now for a few games and he will be missed.

Never a red card taught there player made a meal of it but aside from that awful again , I feel sorry for Russell having to play players that are clearly just not up to this standard we look so lightweight all over the field cork bullied them around the place from start to finish lucky it was only 5

Young guys up against men?too much expected then of the older players.the team needs a few more players but from where? and with what.nearly 5000 at the game tonite, pity we cant even get a fifth of that number in a sports mad city? a bloody disgrace.

Could do with some of Taylor's "Spice Boys" now, eh? Young lads aren't up for this level, it's really hard on them to go up against teams of Cork's calibre in a packed Turner's Cross and try and get a result. Russell can't have signed up for this either. No way this squad stays up. MF opening will be an embarrassment at this stage, no way sponsors will be attracted to the club. Is there any realistic way to change things this season?

Unless money suddenly gets pumped in form somewhere we are relegated and even if it does who do we sign at this stage? Our only hope is someone else is as bad as ourselves. Maybe Bray as it stands.

People can talk a bout young lads not being up to it all they want but Aidan Price, Sean Harding, Paul O Conor and Ian Turner with plenty of LOI experience have been a joke first 2 games. Paudie O Connor better than Price tonight.

People make out we have a team of 19s too

    O Donnell

    Harding Price O Connor Williams

    Turner O Conor Duggan Rainsford

    Faherthy Clarke

Starting 11 tonight with only really O Connor and Rainsford that dont have decent LOI experience. Its not just youth its complete lack of quality.

What was going to be a long season after the Bohs game, it looks like it's going to be even longer after tonight.

We create such few chances that even Ronaldo would struggle to score for us.
Can we set up a trust and just give some money to sign Tracy and Hughes maybe so Rainsford doesn't have to keep playing?

Can any one take any positives from tonight, because I'm struggling...!

Looking forward to seeing 300 in Jackman next week.

    The chairman didn't abuse anyone.

The young keeper is getting plenty of practise.

We held out for nearly four minutes tonight.

All things to build on going forward

The squad is made up of over half under 19 players and they just are no match for men.the biggest mistake was letting the likes of barry ryan, oji go without getting able replacements.paudie o connor has great potential but he is just too young at the minute.conor o donnell is a good young keeper but he would have had a great mentor in barry ryan and would have learnt a lot from barry.it must be very frustrating for martin russell as the team just isnt good enough for the premier league at the minute.its all very well saying we need to cut our cloth to its measure but thats no good when you are down in the first division.the club struggled for years down there and we dont want that to happen again?

It was tough as a fan to watch that last night, poor all night, everthing thats wrong with a team has been just that over our first two games.first goal again conceded from a corner,Duggans sending off disappointing but truth to tell eleven or not we would still have been whacked,Russell should not escape questions either, budget constraints or not he has signed this squad, surely the team can be be setup to be harder to beat then what we have witnessed especially last night.will Cork beat many teams 5 nil this season ?regarding our young players ,all squads have them main difference with us is that we have produced nothing that is good enough..you can be good enough at 19 ..just look at Derry every year producing quality young players.you got to hand it to Cork the whole setup just brilliant.

It's been 15 years in the making at least...we were lucky enough to have a chairman who invested in facilities mid-boom between about 96-07. We started school programs, family enclosure, etc in early 2000s. Our trust originally was mooted in mid 2000s (when we had a benevolent owner), etc.

Also, it's still a close run thing, every LOI club is and will continue to be. We don't own property, we will always have disagreement on policy, still dependant on being successful every season to bring in crowds, etc. This is why it's important for supporters to not only be organised but also for them to seek and eventually attain input into the decision making process of football. Albeit always being accountable to good governance processes.

Limerick will struggle this year, but there's always a chance to become more organised as the year goes on. Sticking with the same back four/keeper and centre mids - just being really solid and tough to beat and trying to nick a couple of goals (much like Athlone under Keith Long last season)-is the way to go on the field. Off the field, fans have to organise and band together, be ready to step in if there's a nuclear option hits the club and see what you can support while you're outside the control/power of the club without rushing to throw good money after bad-and just waiting to get back into the Market Fields. With a training base and youth system in Bruff, the MF could be the final piece. There are hundreds of committed Limerick fans...that means there are 100s of potential volunteers (what's the average fan? A savage who goes for a few pints as we sometimes get painted as who only cares for success or the doctors, lawyers, business professionals, labourers, etc who just love the game and want to see vibrant and inclusive football in their area?) capable of helping the club build back up to what it was and should be.
