Harps v Cabo being mentioned like it was a mauling. "Harsh lesson" etc etc. It was 2-0. A complete fluke of a goal and a goalkeeping error.

Was the rest of the match really that bad?

Was very 1 sided for the entire match, pitch was shocking though so the quality on show wasn't exactly Barca v Bayern Munich.

As for Keating being best striker in division, the lad has bundles of pace, abilitiy and is a genuine aerial threat but Kevin McHugh is still our best player. Kev looks very sharp and if he had of started on Friday, we'd have probably scored 5 or 6.

Was really impressed with Shams, they were a good bit better than the Dundalk team we played last week. But if Dundalk are still in touch by mid season and get a striker in it'll be another exciting finish to the league again.
I don't think we were that great but, you're right, even when we weren't controlling the game we never looked in trouble. The two goals were ropey enough affairs. Still, we look a vast improvement on last season and we're moving the ball so much quicker around the pitch. Longford were poor first half but second half were really dangerous, particularly with Don down the right wing. Were you not playing with two up front from the start, though?

The don't police in the ground, that's it.
The Brandywell and Bogside are not 'no go' areas. The idea that Derry City FC can tell the cops where they can and can't go is ridiculous.
I honestly don't know what the solution is to those scumbags. Ideally, the cops should be about, but I wonder whether they'd be arsed to come out.
I don't think it's particularly helpful either that the Dundalk fans were kept behind, singles they out as targets.
It's all getting out of hand though. Started with Linfield, then Shams, now anybody, it seems. Probably not long before they start targeting buses from Celtic Park too.

On the match, though we were fairly poor now. Didn't create enough up front. Wasn't impressed with Dundalk either, though the goal was well taken. Neither keeper really had much to do.

Regarding the pitch, it's actually in a better condition than I thought it would be. Started off rubbish last season too, but markedly improved by April.
Sorry, Brendy, I didn't meant to imply Derry were telling the PSNI not to police the area or were even OK with it. I was just saying the PSNI don't police the area and as far as I know Derry can like it or lump it.

No, Sully was up front on his own. Shaw was playing right wing with Deady on the left. Rice and O'Connor were in the middle with Salmon holding midfielder. At half time Don replaced Deady and played on the right. O'Connor switched to the left and Shaw moved up front with Sully and Rice and Salmon played in centre mid.

Ah, OK, from our end it wasn't clear as Shaw seemed to come inside a lot. Don had Luke Byrne on toast for the first 20 minutes of the second half, but the young lad finished very strongly.

Don looks fit and sharp at the moment, he has his flaws but he's so bloody fast that he causes a lot of problems and pulls defenders out of position. Thought Jamie Mulhall did well on that side too for a 19 year old who was injured all pre season. He's a talent.

It was like a Rovers reunion over on that side in the second half with Don out there, Ricer taking throws and Powell on corners. Mulhall looks a good player but, similar to Byrne, he seems a bit timid.

I've lost count of the number of ex Rovers players we have. I think it's 7? Yeah Jamie's a quiet enough lad but he was well able to stand up for himself last year in an arguably more physical division and he was targeted at times, he played almost every game.

That's it, I had forgotten about Dunne.
